I used to wonder why Nick had such hatred directed towards Patton Oswalt. I always found Oswalt to be a pretty funny comedian with a quick wit, great jokes aimed at geeks such as myself, and a set list that was usually 99% fresh material. Earlier this year, I got a copy of Joe Rogan's "Shiny Happy Jihad" and found it to be one of the funniest albums I had heard in a LONG time. As Rogan only has one CD available on iTunes, I turned my attention towards Doug Stanhope as I remember him being the other guy that "ruined" the Man Show (as is the view among my peers, but that show was dead long before Rogan and Stanhope showed up.)
I purchased a copy of DEADBEAT HERO the other day and after just one listen, I finally understood Nick's dismissal of Oswlat. On more than one occasion, I contemplated pulling the car over simply because I was laughing so hard for so long. Easily one of the most fearless comedians I've ever heard, cracking jokes on every taboo subject from cop shooting ("pigs in a blanket"), turning his mother into a suicide bomber, abortion, school shootings, etc. While you might be tempted to write it off as shock tactics, the jokes are REALLY funny. Not since David Cross' SHUT UP YOU FUCKING BABY have I felt so bad for laughing so hard. I could go on for a good while about how great his drunken rambling style is (although I'll admit it's an acquired taste) or his utter lack of shame, but this post is getting long enough.

Long story short: Nick, you were right and I was wrong. Thanks
