This is Tough. I've carefully considered these key moments from each film-

From Batman Forever:

-The sound Batman's weird Taser weapon makes
-Batman stealing a man's hearing aid
-Club on a helicopter steering wheel
-A Giant, furry bat with a huge head that everyone is scared of
-Batman's secret pod chute thing that dings like a toaster when it reaches the batcave.
-Goofy bat smile
-Batman cheering up Gordon with a thumbs up from his Batwing

From Batman and Robin:

-All things FREEZE
-Cuts to sick Alfred that look like he's soiling himself
-Heel clicking that produces ice skates
-Bat Surfing
-Batman picking up frozen Robin and placing him into a pool of water
-Car Chase down a naked man's arm
-Bane saying "BOMB" every time He places an icicle bomb on the ground

Arnold's relentless FREEZE performance made this a close one.
But I'll have to go with Batman Forever.

There's actually some decent stuff in Forever. B&R is deliriously campy throughout.
I don't really find either one entertaining, just bad on top of bad.

It's close, but Batman & Robin gets the nod as the worse film. BF is merely a terrible, terrible film, while B&R actually crosses the line to unwatchable.
Holy rotten guano Batman! Voting for either one of these films is like voting in a presidential election. Lesser of two evils gets my vote. Forever isn't nearly as bloated as Batman and Robin, way too many characters were just thrown away in both of these just so the executive could cram a little more "star power" in them.
Well Forever didn't feature the Bat credit card or as much man crotch and ass shots as the first one. Plus it didn't have Batgirl.
Batman Forever. Reason being as that I can actually watch it without getting brain freeze. There is nothing overtly interesting about any of the characters in Batman Forever and I've still not forgiven what they did to Two-Face, but it's ocassionally funny in most of the places where B&R is unbearable and equally thrilling in the places where B&R is fatty and rushed, it's just a better made film that warns of but still manages to avoid the cluttered eyefuck of gaudy imagery that plagued it's follow up.

FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE ICE WINTAH ICE CHILL FREEZE FREEZE CHILL CHILL ICE ICE ICE FREEZE FREEZE

How can anyone NOT vote for that?
Mr Freeze is a conductor at one point in B&R.

DO WANT.

Arnold tries so damn hard to make every freeze related line of dialogue work.

Always winterize....YUH PIPEZ!

He also throws in some nice physical comedy when he tries to escape the dreaded "Cool zone".

Batman Forever is great. Batman and Robin is not so much.

Oh, okay, I thought you meant it was a legitimately great movie. In all fairness though, you could pretty much use each of those examples as arguments for Batman and Robin being "great".
Don't forget the leader of that day-glo gang is none other than martial arts star Don 'The Dragon' Wilson!

I vote for BATMAN FOREVER. Nicole Kidman is so damn oversexed in that one. And, god help me, I actually like the climactic scene at the finale when Val Kilmer does the bat riddle, and the Riddler says, "You're as blind as a BAT!" Then Kilmer kind of coolly says, "Exactly." The sonar goggle shit flips into place and he whips the batarang at the big glass chandelier of doom thingy and destroys it! That scene is passable, but just for the "Holy rusted metal Batman!" the movie gets a failing grade. B&R, however, enters a pantheon of shittiness rivaled by a very select few entries in cinematic history (CATWOMAN comes to mind...).

Good answer.

Batman and Robin, while utterly shitty, suffers from the fact that 9 times out of 10 it's not entertainingly shitty. That's an important factor for me.

So Forever gets my vote, and I'm not even a fan of it. At least it works a few times, whereas Batman and Robin is just broken to the core.
Both are bad, but Batman & Robin wins for being one of the most deliciously campy movies of all time. It's endlessly fun to watch. And I still claim Uma Thurman's performance is kind of brilliant. She seems to be the only one who knows what a bad movie she's in.

Except it's terribly paced and that kills everything. Batman Forever keeps things moving so before you can process what exactly the fuck Jim Carrey is doing when he's coming up with villian names (a costume generator program? A magic Riddler in a box that gives his opinion?) you're whisked away to some...alley...from hell...where Two-Face's lair is? Was that a dungeon? Why does he do all this crime if he lives in the sewer? Where does the money go? WHY DO HIS THUGS HAVE NEON LIGHTS ON THEIR TOMMY GUNS?

That movie is a treasure trove.

some other key moments from the films--

Forever:

-Hearing Aid Guy pointing and yelling "Batman! NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" later in the movie.

Batman and Robin:

-Freeze saying "Yes....Ohhhhhhhhh yes...." to himself while playing with the joystick controls in his giant penis rocket.
Whoever wins, we all lose.
I voted Batman Forever though. Batman and Robin was my worst theater going experience ever. The theater was barely bigger than a trailer park living room. The air conditioner broke, and it had to be over 100 degrees in there. About three quarters of the way through the movie, the film broke, and it took them about fifteen minutes to fix it. And through it all, we had to watch a film with a God Damned Bat Visa. As we walked out, they gave us vouchers for a free flick, which we never redeemed, because shortly thereafter the theater went out of business. For that, I blame batnipples.
Batman Forever, by far. It's not a great movie, and in hindsight, we should have known where the series was going by taking one look at Two-Face's gang, the Bat-crotch or any number of choice bits of dialogue ("It's boiling acid!" "Chicks dig the car" etc.) However, the amped-up energy, fun factor and flashy visuals were a nice change of pace from the more interesting but also really depressing Batman Returns. Everything about this movie screams "cheeeeeeese," but at least there's some fun to be had that doesn't entirely feel like it's at the expense of the Bat-mythos. Plus, Nicole Kidman in this movie = my first celebrity crush.

It is also worth noting that while I was desperately excited to see Batman Forever, after taking one look at the ice skating scenes in the trailer for Batman & Robin I knew something was wrong. I remember my dad asking if I wanted to go see it and I declined, saying it looked ridiculous and we should just wait for it to come on HBO. When a movie looks too stupid for an 11 year-old comic book fanatic, you know something is wrong.

Of course, I bought the 8-disc Batman Anthology the day it came out, so I'm now the proud owner of both of these movies.
Wait, are we deciding which is a better Batman movie, or which is more entertainingly awful? Because in the second case Batman & Robin wins the Adam West trophy easily. Freeze's puns alone are far more gloriously appalling than anything in Forever. Sure Two Face is hammy, but he's out of his league here.
I can't believe I'm saying this but please people come to your senses and listen to Desslar!
"Forever" I really seem to enjoy for some reason. Even if Two-Face was underdone and Riddler was overdone, there's something to be said for a flick that squeezes Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey and Val Kilmer into the proceedings. It's too bad Kilmer left the franchise and Joel Schumacher stayed.

I read not too long ago that Sam Raimi had actually campaigned to direct "Batman Forever." My how the franchise -- and the comic book film landscape as a whole -- would have been different if that had worked out.
BATMAN AND ROBIN "wins". Forever is just mostly lame and mediocre which is way worse. Forever made 20 million more than RETURNS, but gypped us out of a Michael Keaton/Burton finale, and gave power to Schumacher and Akiva Golsman which continues to this day and did major long-term damage to the Batman series, and the human race. I hope it was worth it, fuckers!

What a weird debate. Hey here's an idea for a thread: What's better, Hitler or genital warts? Discuss.
Well...Hitler was a bit of a cunt, but he is dead, and these damn warts keep coming back no matter how much balm, ointment or salve I apply so my vote: Hitler.
Well now if I got the genital warts from boning Hitler, I'd have to say that the holocaust was worth it just to have that story to tell, but since that is chronologically implausible, I'd have to say that Hitler is worse.
Okay, but look at how many great movies were inspired by Hitler. Dozens, at least. Great movies inspired by genital warts: zero.
Couldn't you use Mr. Freeze's gun to freeze all the warts? If that's the case, Batman & Robin just got a lot better.
And like that, we're back on subject!

Carry on.
I'd say B&R was "better" (not saying much) than BF, but both are the lose when it comes to being entertaining.

B&R was much less irritating to me than BF, so I suppose that makes it the winner.

B&R is more awful and more campy, but not more entertaining. It blows.

If you watch the film carefully, every single line of dialogue Mr Freeze has is either an ice-related pun, or him moaning, "Yeessss, yeesssss, hahaha, yes, yeah, yessss, hahaha, yess!"

Other key BATMAN AND ROBIN MOMENTS:

* the security footage of Mr Freeze's accident, which a) cuts to different angles during Freeze's sudden accident in order to better capture his death, and b) features Arnold Schwarzenegger trying to look like a sage, noble professor.

* Batgirl honouring her dying uncle's wishes by hacking into his files.

* a cop yelling, "My lungs! My lungs are freezing!"

* inappropriate guitar shredding when Batman gets pushed onto some sacks.

* Coolio.

* touching R Kelly theme song - "A city of justice/A city of love/Gotham City/Yeah yeah"

* truly weird part where it cuts from Mr Freeze laughing to Batman dramatically posing on top of Freeze's unconscious body (????). Why bother showing fight scenes when you can use the time-honoured method of not showing the viewer important information?

Key BATMAN FOREVER moments:

* Hearing-aid guy actually saying, "It's boiling-hot acid!"

* the aforementioned goofy Bat-smile, which my brother to this day insists is computer-enhanced.

Yeah that has always been a standout weird moment among many weird moments.
It almost looks like Batman is performing a magic trick for the audience.

*slowly pulls away cape*

It's....ARNOLD'S STUNTMAN IN THE FETAL POSTION!!
I wouldn't say this thread makes me want to watch BATMAN AND ROBIN again, but it does make me wish there was a version of the film with just the Mr. Freeze scenes.

So far this is the best I've found.
Best Mr Freeze Moment:

When he grabs a hanging vine, and from a standing position, and with absolutely no momentum, suddenly swings up fifty feet onto a platform.
I just thought about something. At the beginning of the movie, when Robin is frozen, it's a desperate race against time to thaw him out and nurse him back to health. Yet at the end of the movie, all of Gotham is quickly frozen and thawed with no adverse health effects other than the good citizens being like "Man, that was weird. Did you catch the series finale of Wings?"
So, what are you saying, that Batman & Robin doesn't make sense? That's uncalled for.
I hope the following phrases posted in this thread permeate into the mass culture

JacknifeJohnny: "cluttered eyefuck of gaudy imagery"
Leonard: "pantheon of shittiness"

I voted for Batman Forever. I found it to be merely forgettable. Batman & Robin was a painful experience, one of the few movies that I couldn't wait for to be over. A buddy of mine went to a screening where the film broke. Some guy in the audience yelled, "The gods of film have spoken!"

Batman Forever ended up being the #2 top grossing film of 1995. Batman and Robin put a once popular franchise into an 8 year long deep sleep.
I voted for BATMAN FOREVER. I have a number of reasons for enjoying it above and beyond the hilariousness that is B & R, but for me it boils down to having campiness and decent action balance themselves out. Say what you will about FOREVER, but the fight scenes involving Bats weren't too bad, and Dick Grayson's Day-Glo brawl was decent as well. I love the shot of Batman zipping in.

FOREVER also features one of my funniest CHUD jokes: the mental image of Batman sitting in the back of the courtroom when Harvey Dent gets acid spilled on his face. Also, the fact that holding a manila folder can indeed prevent acid from burning your whole face.
