Jennifer Garner seems to have found a new career in quirky indie comedies; she’s getting back together with Juno peepz Mandate Pictures for Butter, the #3 movie on last year’s Black List, the listing of the best unproduced screenplays floating around Hollywood.

This time she won’t be getting a baby, she’ll be getting a butter sculpture. Explains The Hollywood Reporter:

“Butter” follows a young orphan who, after being adopted by a
Midwestern family, discovers she has an uncanny talent for
butter-carving. She eventually finds herself up against the
ambitious wife of the retired reigning champion in a town’s annual
butter-sculpting contest.

“I wanted to do a political satire,” [writer Jason] Micallef said, “and I was
looking for some venue that people take very seriously but is also
ridiculous — like politics — but at the same time is really
visual.”

If this movie doesn’t play too wacky and quirky – if it treats competitive butter sculpting as something deadly serious – it could possibly be great. There’s no director attached, but with Garner coming aboard expect lots of movement.
