Like the Academy Awards, the Black List has long been a less-than-perfect way to judge what scripts out there are actually great (some real stinkers have been produced from listed scripts) but it remains an interesting conversation starter, and a way of putting things on your radar that at least have intriguing log-line. The list has emerged for 2011, so you can take a look at the long list of scripts that have each gotten votes of confidence from industry insiders, producers, and executives.

Obviously a script like Django Unchained is already high-profile and well on its way through production, but here are dozens of titles to peruse that you may otherwise have not have heard of. My eye was certainly caught by a few out-of-the-blue ideas, as well as something like The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto making the list, but take a look at the full list below (via Movies.com) and pick out your own favorites. Let us know in the comments which projects you think could turn into something great, or even the ones that seem sure to get ground up by the system into something terrible…

If you’re curious about the development and history of the Black List, make sure you check out my piece from this time last year that takes you through it.
