Ah, thank you. So I guess by "later this year' they mean...November? So should I expect to get the disc soon? Nice.

It's available now, so unless they're sending them out in phases, you should get it pretty soon.

I'd prefer to watch Phase IV over Antz any day.

I got mine on Friday last week. Watched streaming stuff all weekend, with relatively zero problems, even with my shitty DSL connection. Picture was pretty good, but the only HD thing I watched was from a TV show, and the pic obviously wasn't HD quality. Haven't tried to watch an HD movie yet.

I haven't received anything telling me that my disc for Netflix is on the way... kinda bums me out when everyone else seems to at least gotten an email about it. I double checked my account and it says that I signed up for the PS3 service.

Anyone compare it to Xbox's service yet?

Oh, and something I didn't figure out until I started using it 2-3 times already, if you arrow "up" from the screen with your queue on it, you can actually go through different categories of movies and watch them from there instead of having to go out to Netflix.com and add stuff to your queue. It doesn't have every movie available, but I think it maxes at 100 per section (Action, Family, Sci-Fi, etc.). I almost watched some stuff I already have on DVD, but it was just so damn easy to select it from there...

And by the way, I am addicted to "Man vs. Food" now. That Carnivore Pizza challenge is here in Atlanta (Kennesaw, to be exact), and now I want to try it. Although it would probably kill me. A 30-inch pizza with 5 lbs of different meat toppings, maxing out the pizza at 11 lbs. Yikes and Yum at the same time.

Even the "HD" stuff is 420p on the PS3 service, and looks really shoddy by comparison. Movies on the 360 look far superior.

It works, though. I didn't have any problems streaming it, so if it's your only option, then yay.

My disk finally came in. I have to say I like it better than watching on my Desktop with the large monitor.

It streams pretty good, but I have a 12mb internet connection.

I think it looks sharper than DVD quality when there isn't a ton of movement, so I'm surprised to hear its only in 420p. Its not as nice as OTA HD, which I tend to use as the barometer for HD.

quick question:
is the monthly price for streaming on PS3 including Netflix or do I have to pay on top of that?

Well, then, I tend to watch most movies in 420p.

As long as you maintain the minimum level (like $7.99 I think?) on Netflix, there's no limit to streaming and no extra $$.

HD content is 720p and other content is 480p.

Unless you have shitty DSL like me. Then it's all 480p. Still looks pretty good though.

Yeah, there's probably some connection throttling going on. Since I have 12MB internet service at home, I probably get the full resolution.

Thanks again to Anderson and everybody else. I got Netflix working on the PS3 last night when I finally found time to get to it. So far I'm more of a fan of how it works/looks on the 360 and I think it's integrated better, but still, it's a nioce bonus to have.

Thanks to Netflix streaming on PS3, my kids are getting some benefit from my membership. Since Friday they watched Ghostbusters, several animated Batman movies, a Scooby Doo movie and some episodes of the munsters. I'll probably stick to getting the discs for the most part, so I don't mind the diminished quality. but I can't believe I'm going to continue getting this many movies a month from netflix for the same rate. I have watched the equivalent of 8 discs streaming in addition to 15 actual discs in the last 30 days, all for $25 after taxes. That's less than a dollar a day before taxes and I've only been streaming movies for 5 days.

I've found it to be inconsistent. The first few episodes of LOST were in 720p, then after binging a bit, they throttled me down to 480p.

Got the disc today and its working pretty well. While I'm a little disappointed with the lack of HD content online, its working fine and I can't complain about the service when its free. Thanks for the heads-up, Trevor.

Just wait until you watch "Caged Heat" on your PS3's streaming Netflix and then it posts it to your FB page.

Wow, this update comes out today. I won't mind that the friends list doesn't look quite as bad anymore. Now if only I could turn off the annoying advertisement in the upper right-hand corner.
