Hmm, maybe that's why I find 30 Rock and The Office lacking each week. I generally watch them in the order they air, starting 20 minutes in so I can fast forward through commercials. Community never fails to entertain, while the others barely get me to crack a smile these days.

I don't watch Parks and Recreation, so I DVR all the other shows. I usually watch Community, then 30 Rock then The Office and I like those shows in that order.

Community is clearly the best, although 30 Rock usually has one joke that leaves me guffawing (last night, Teddy Ruxbin: Attorney at Law). The Office I just watch to keep up with whats going on at this point.

I feel the same way, regarding 30 Rock and The Office. I honestly don't even know why I watch the latter since I've pretty much stopped posting in the thread.

Parks has been great this season, last 3 or 4 reaching AMAZING status. Worth checking out if you guys have abandoned it/never watched it.

Wow, there are people that actually like this terrible show more than The Office and 30 Rock? I've given it several shots, the plot and writing are absolutely awful. They can't even figure out what to do with Chevy Chase, for chrissakes.

That, my good sir, is a fair point. I clicked on to the thread from the main page to get a general idea of how the show was being received after I stopped watching, saw nothing but good comments in a very cursory examination (hence the "Wow"). Then I decided not to read any more (to avoid spoilerish things in a thread that doesn't need to avoid giving things away), and just ask what the improvements were. I could have framed the question more intelligently, I suppose...and I probably could have extrapolated from all of the good comments that it was worth giving it another try, but I didn't. Then I read your flippancy as dismissiveness and got my veteran lurker panties in a bunch.

My TV consuming time is, in fact, very limited these days...three kids cramp the viewing schedule. So it does take a little bit of effort. Hell, I'm three weeks behind on 30 Rock as we speak. So if you'll be so kind as to cut me at least a little slack, I'll stop being all bitchy.

The show allows everyone to shine. It's not just a Joel McHale vehicle would be the only "improvement" from the first 2 episode where the focus was on him.
I read this very thread when the show first came out, and saw some of the same mediocre opinions on it that I had. There were flashes of really funny stuff, but I wasn't hooked and like I said, it just fell off the DVR and I didn't think about it.

So it wasn't quite a blind assumption, and I really was just asking for a little non-specific input on why the show was getting such love from the few posts that I saw. And the "improvement" that you stated is actually the biggest thing that could have improved for me.

Consider me duly chastised, and you'll all be happy to know that I'm going to take Nacho's original advice and just watch a few more episodes. If Hulu weren't blocked at my office, it would make things so much easier...

Chevy's had the biggest laughs in the past several episodes. I look forward to seeing what Pierce has in store each week.

Favourite Pierce quote this week probably ""First we give a month to the blacks now we have to waste a week on the Irish?"

Ha! That line was great. I also love that the show has stopped merely making him the but of jokes and allowed his advice to actually be useful (Heeeeere's Brownies!)

I do hope they keep the Chevy slapstick to a minimum, though. Yeah, he's great at it, but it'd be a really easy thing to overdo.

As someone who has watched Chevy Chase for the last twenty years, I'm actually amazed they've figured out something for him to do.

Caught up with this show and it is awesome. Feels like Arrested Development light, with enough small references but nothing to crazy to just pick up a random episode.

Agreed on the first few episodes setting up the character arcs, and the last few are already on stride now that we know the characters. That said, I think we haven't seen the last of the Britta/Jeff (and possible Annie) storyline.

Since this is a community college, is the show only going to last 2 years. I don't know how many seasons they could do (possibly 4 for each semester?).

You're assuming that each year has to be one season. Some shows can have seasons take place over a lot less time than that. Even...24 hours.
