Yeah, those banners have been playing for a while. Most disturbing.

So who else is in with the Colbert 1,000,000-strong facebook group (apart from Valeri and now myself?)

Me too.

Oh and having seen Kevin Rudd do a press conference on Sky News yesterday, I now officially quite like the guy.

And now Howard has pulled out his secret fuck you weapon to Rudd with a $34 Billion tax cut initiative. This shit just got real.

Well, is it really a tax "cut" - there was an article in the Age this week about how with the rate of inflation or something over the same period - the government would simply be maintaining the status quo - compared to what you're actually earning, you'd not be paying less tax over that period. It was a bit of a technical argument, but if the maths stacks up, I am frankly boggled the ALP isn't banging the the "false promises" drum as loud as it possibly can. I'll try and find the article...

The amusing things is, the Sunrise program did a poll on the morning the announcement was made and of the thousands of votes, I think around 80% upwards wanted better services rather than "tax-cuts". You know, actually expecting the government to.....govern....and "do things". Revolutionary!

EDIT: Here it is: http://www.theage.com.au/news/opinio...300855733.html

It's been ages since I posted in this thread.

On the Death Proof thing, I saw the trailer the other day when I went to see The Kingdom.

It's pretty crap. I don't know if we get the fake trailers either. I tracked them down on Youtube anyway.

I watched SWAT on Channel 9 and then 8mm on Channel 10 last night and they were advertising during both of those pretty heavily.

I'd never really paid attention to this movie because I'm not a Tarantino fan but it's good to see Kurt Russell scruffy and cranky again.

Headline in the Age (just because it's funny):

http://www.theage.com.au/news/federa...941024388.html

And most egregiously intellectually dishonest thing that's crossed my monitor (so far!) this morning:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/federa...941024062.html

....So legal discrimination against same sex couples should be removed but ban on gay marriage shouldn't be removed because it's "tradition" to discriminate and there are laws in place that would prove problematic because they discriminate against gay people if they *were* married.....riiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhttttttt.

What season are they up to? Ive been downloading and I'm up to the fourth. I thought they axed the US Office on our shores.
Also: It seems the 1,000,000 Colbert group disappeared from my Facebook groups. Anyone else?

I don't know which season it's from but the episode was 'The Convict' - the one written by Gervaise and Merchant. John Krasinski (sp?) has just the most *fantastic* comic timing when he looks around at Pam to let her know he set Andy up with the banjo playing/falsetto singing of "The Rainbow Connection"...utter brilliance, I was rolling about and giggling for a solid minute or two.

I haven't checked Facebook on the Colbert thing. Will let you know.

Do I get royalties from the name?

In other news: I got rear-ended on the way to work this morning. My first official car accident! And I'm a bloody P-Plater! AND I'M INNOCENT!

Going to take the car over for an assessment later today, I really hope it's just panel damage that can be easily fixed because, I kinda *really* need my car...

Given how much I drive I've been in a few, but the annoying thing is that I work IN my car, so putting it in the shop for weeks to get fixed is a real pain. Which is why I have 2 cars.

Oh, and I created us a Facebook group for NerdQuest 2007, if y'all are interested. If not I'll hop on over there and delete it.

Aside from the smell of smoke, and the mountains which are normally on every horizon being obscured by the brown air, I'm good, thanks. The fires are all quite a ways from me, here in the lowlands. So far, anyway.

I am happy to say that my nerdiness has not yet extended to the field of my wardrobe. The nerd memorabilia I have consists of a 12 inch Harry Potter and a photo of me grinning like an idiot with matthew lewis (Neville Longbottom).

My boyfriend (yes you Buckshot) however is a different story.

What The Frack and I were on the train home from Supanova 05 when I started having a bit of a chuckle to myself. WTF asked me what I was laughing at to which I responded I wonder of those guys in the Stormtrooper outfits, if their girlfriends ever let'em...y'know with just the top half of the custume on and then I thought oh wait, you got a Stormtrooper outfit there's a good chance you don't have a girlfriend.

So am I right to assume many of the aussies here are Sydney-siders?

Matt - where on Melbourne are you mate?

Are all the kiwis here from the same part of kiwi land? Are any of our kiwi cousins part of the mass-colony that is the kiwis here in Oz?

Well I'm out in the brown part of the country.

And I have to say that all the Dr Who business on this site contributed to one of the most bizarrely plotted dreams I can recall having recently. The weird angels from "Blink" plus those giant Muppet characters from....the Muppet Show, David Tennant's Dr turning into the ultimate leader of either one or both of those groups then transforming into someone who looked not unlike Depp's Sweeney Todd character except that he then became a nebula shaped like a rabbit (replacing the prior leader who had been a goat-shaped nebula), which may have had something to do with the Shadow-Puppet dude who performed awesomely at the end of Spicks and Specks last night. And lots of dinnerware. LOTS of dinnerware as gifts that I couldn't do anything with.

Somehow it all made sense at the time.

Oh, and then a calf showed up and my parents were patting it, and it was the cleanest, cutest calf ever - like almost cartoon-like in its perfect cuteness, except, it looked like a real calf. Then my alarm went off and back to the real world of motor insurance and hiding from clients...

I'm a sharer!

I for one am an American. Born there, live there. But my sister and I will be joining any other interested parties for lunch in Sydney on Saturday the 10th of November, after our fun week exploring the land of the Kiwis. Samurai Mike, a kiwi and a jafa, will be coming along, too.

I be in the suburb of Carlton, lovingly sunning myself with tea on my front stoop. Pretty sure the NZ Natural who posts in here is a Kiwi in exile in the colonies.

Well my dream from last night was me sitting around in an airport waiting for my flight (there was a beach at the airport so i was sitting on a deck chair surrounded by tourists) and then everyone wigged out when all the planes touched down at once, and the Space Shuttle had to fly in a giant big ass jet upside down.
I ate a lot of cheese before I went to bed last night.
