I think the internet breaks down if they don’t. Something about negative vacuum energy density. I don’t know, I’m not a tech guy.  

That sounds about right, but neither am I a tech guy. I’m just a humble whale biologist.

I don’t think it’s fair to hold it to standards that we can’t hold to the original, such as performances. Bruce Campbell is great, yeah, but every one else is pretty schlocky. And, let’s face it, the script was nothing earth-shattering.

Where this movie is going to fail (why even include “pass”?) is going to be with the fans of the original who think remaking it is some kind of terrible act against man and God. Which is a damn shame, because it’ll probably be a better movie.

I think the only really objective thing you’ll be able to say about the two films once we’ve seen both of them is that the remake is a very different movie. But yes, the remake will have to pass the hurdle of fandom to really succeed as an artistic endeavor, much less a commercial one, though I don’t think that’s much of a surprise.
