Whoever wrote the synopsis below should get a medal for beating around the bush.
Essentially if you’ve paid any attention to Iron Man 3 whatsoever, this synopsis will tell you absolutely nothing. We’ve known since Comic Con that trailers are going to reveal that Tony’s shit gets blowed up real good, that this film is in some way based on the Extremis storyline, and that Tony might be reexamining the relationship between him and his suit(s). Using more idioms than one could possibly shake a stick at though, this summary seems to at least somewhat confirm all of those plot strands.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
It’s not as if one could reasonably expect such a summary to actually have meaty info of course- this is ultimately a big batch of words to fill in on promotional items and it’s designed with the fact that almost no one will read it in mind.
I will say- I do like that it seems even here there is a fixation on the idea that Stark is struggling with his out-of-suit identity, which you’ll remember was foreshadowed in The Avengers (just a bit!) and I discussed in that linked article above.
In any event, the trailer for Iron Man 3 is set to drop later in the month. There’s also a promised “sneak preview” coming from the film’s Facebook Page, which is currently gathering ‘likes’ to “power up Tony’s arc reactor.” I suspect the percentage meter is bullshit and the whole thing is just timed to the trailer release, but maybe they’re letting something else loose with that promotion. Maybe there are even more suits to reveal!
Here’s the rest of the synopsis, which rounds up the other creative details.
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man (#1) in May of 1968.
Iron Man 3 is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Picturesand DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

This is downright spoilerific.
Revised synopsis: Iron Man fights some bad guys.
Renn Brown, I cannot wait to see the teaser for IM3. I fully expect Tony to find his metal on the…Rhodes more travelled, allowing Iron Man and War Machine Squeeze the…Juice out of the…Mandarin!
That blurb is amazing. It’s like an entire Nineties worth of video game synopses.
“Squeeze the juice out of the Mandarin”?…if that didn’t make me laugh, it would be the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Nice work!
Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Or does the Iron Man get drunk and pass out, randomly shooting shit with his palm guns as he sinks into weird-ass dreams? Who can say?
