Nick told you it was a possibility and now it’s confirmed: Jamie Foxx will play Electro in the The Amazing Spider-Man 2. From the actor:
“Electro is a great character. I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked… I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he’s a… genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on.”
Foxx is a left-field choice for the character, but I appreciate the out-of-box thinking here. Aside from being white (which doesn’t matter one iota, really), Max Dillon was always drawn with a menacing, wiry frame that Mr. Foxx lacks. But dude’s a talented and capable performer who hasn’t had many opportunities to show his range since he snagged that Oscar for Ray. The question of whether or not he can pull off Electro doesn’t need to be asked. He can.
In the comics, Max Dillon was an electrical lineman who got struck by lighting as he was repairing a power line, thus turning him into a human (evil) super conductor. So, you know, if you live in the Marvel universe and are looking to shortcut your way into a superpower, stick your finger in a socket and hope the weather turns.

He clearly gets the character. “a genius, electrician-type person.” … This is going to rock!
The best part about spiderman is all the villains noone really knows or cares about. 🙄
still the franchise is selling, and I like Jamie Foxx. It’s not like TAS was bad.. i just don’t see why they keep pushing Spidey and not other heroes.
lol
I’m surprised they haven’t renamed his character EDM to appeal to the emo fanbase they are stroking. I imagine sick dupstep drops and bass wobbles everytime he gets “electric”. Also, they really need to keep the mask. I mean it works for Deadmau5, right? right?!?!
At 1:30…here is your template guys…haha

Instead of the mask, I would like to see electricity zapping off of his face in a star-shaped arc. But then, I’m not in charge. Get it!? In CHARGE? (where’s Fleed when you need ‘im?)
good idea
J David Rhodes, Time will tell if this is an…ELECTROfying casting choice! I am sure Jamie will give his…MAXimum effort as Supervillain…Dillon…THRILLin all those that think him…FOXY…In Living Color, at theaters World Wide!
