If you saw The Hobbit this weekend (and many of you did!) then you’ve seen this full trailer for
Star Trek, which expands the teaser material into a full-blown trailer full of glory, action, and portent. Some even saw the opening 9-minutes of the film in IMAX, but that won’t be going online in any legit fashion, so you’ll have to settle with this one for your frame-by-frame needs.
Headline joke aside, here are surely the Khan references and other tidbits in this trailer, but frankly I’ve gone far enough with the theories and rumor-battling. I’m seeing the film regardless, so we’ll see what pleasant mystery manages to endure between now and May 17th, 2013, when Star Trek starts the summer off.

No trailer in front of the non-#D Hobbit. 🙁
I saw Hobbit HFR 3D. No Star Trek and no Pacific Rim.
Wow. I thought everyone would have Star Trek. I had Star Trek, Pacific Rim, and Superman.
After just re-watching the 2009 version of Star Trek last night, I have to say that I’m plenty excited to see the sequel.
Sure the 2009 version had too many lens flares and the ridiculous ice planet sequence, but it was also amazingly entertaining with a great mix of comedy and action. The orbital skydive onto the mining platform is one of the best sequences in the entire film series.
Plus, they did some fantastic character interaction – Urban in particular nails McCoy, Pine does a great jr. cocky Kirk, and Spock’s arc into self-realization of his human side is handled well.
May 17th can’t come soon enough (and that’s coming from a former fan who was such an old-schooler that I didn’t even watch TNG for years after its debut).
