Has anyone talked to Riddick? He hasn’t been answering his phone and I’m starting to get worried. He’s seemed seriously bummed out lately.
Eyeing Riddick’s promotional material thus far, you’d be forgiven for thinking director David Twohy and company were content to sweep Chronicles of Riddick under the rug entirely, and really who could blame them? But this above picture suggests they’ll at least touch on the title character’s assumption of the Necromonger throne at the previous film’s conclusion. Riddick seems to have the weight of the universe on his shoulders in this shot, or at least some serious girl troubles. Does Riddick have a crush? Why won’t she notice him? He made this sweet chair in shop and everything…

Yes! I want this image as a poster! This was the coolest thing to come out of Chronicles, if you ask me. The idea that Riddick, a lone wolf/nomadic mercenary, stuck with this kingdom he has no idea what to do with, much less wants. Sort of a King Conan kind of thing.
But yeah, while they’ve made it clear they’re not making the whole movie around this notion, I’m super glad they’ll touch on it, at least.
Karl Urban will be appearing as Vaako, too. I remember Twohy talking up ideas for entries 2 and 3 in a Chronicles trilogy. This won’t be that, due to budget, but it will at least give some continuity for us Chronicles fans.
I think this comes out in September? Agh, the wait…
I think the jist is that the necromongers dump his ass on some desolate planet. I guess convicted felons don’t make good leaders, even in a future ruled by weird zombie people.
Yeah, the other two entries were set aside for now. If this does well, Twohy & Diesel still want them to be Films 4&5.
I’m loving the scrapy can do attitude this series has had, and now that Vin’s career is on the ups again, and with the distance between this and the last one, coupled with the promise of an R rating, hell yea, i’m interested in this. Early september release? I’m now exited to see the first trailer. I hope we don’t have to wait till the release of Fast & Furious 6 for it.
