“We’ve tried to make a Superman movie where he does stuff and you go, ‘Yeah, if I was Superman, that’s what I’d do. Even though he’s an alien, he’s more relatable, more human.”
Definitely a good place to start, Mr. Snyder.
If Man Of Steel isn’t my most anticipated blockbuster of the year, I’m failing to recall what might be above it. I have a good feeling about this one, and any doubts that I’m out of my mind have been ameliorated by great buzz from a variety of channels. We’re about three months out, so the parade has just started, but TotalFilm will be filled to the brim with Superman stuff in its latest issue. They got a few new photos (little of substance), but some interesting quotes from the principles, including the Snyder quote above.
Here’s what the man himself, Henry Cavill had to say:
“This is a Superman for a modern age. It’s not betraying anything that Superman is, but it is grounding everything in reality. It’s the story of this incredible being who can do incredible things, but whom we can associate with. Because he’s gone through troubling stuff and had to make tough choices…”
Look for much more of this kind of thing as we move into blockbuster season proper.

Anybody notice the background of his shield is dark blue/black on the cover and yellow in other photos?
I think its the lighting.
I find it really hard to believe that WB didn’t have buy-off on the color correction for the cover at least. It looks a lot darker and flatter than I would expect or like.
I think it’s a Photoshop error, mainly because Amy Adams is pretty short IRL.
Superman looks so…..English!
She’s pretty short there too, she’s leaning upwards, on high heels, giving her around half a foot extra height, while Cavill is just flat footed.
Trying to get excited about this….trying….to get excited…about this. What’s odd is that I’m looking forward to Amy Adams as Lois Lane. I think she’ll be perfect. As for the new Supes….it’s a wait until I see the movie. If I ever see this movie. Just…not excited about it.
ugh. That rubbery wet-look suit makes him look like a fucking scuba diver. And Amy Adams looks like she could be Supes older sister. Why dafuq did they pick an actress approaching middle-age to be Lois (which is compounded by a much younger actor as Superman)??
Proper use of “whom”? SOLD!
Yeah, your troll is showing.
Because Margot Kidder as Lois looked fresh out of high school? They tried that with Superman Returns in casting Kate Bosworth. No offense to Kate, but she was absolutely wrong in every capacity for that particular role.
“Fresh out of high school”? Nobody’s asking for that, padre. Kidder was 29/30 during the first Superman. Adams is 37/38. Big difference. Kidder was 4 years older than Chris Reeve. Adams is almost 9 years older than Cavill. Big difference. And before you start reciting the spiel about equality between the genders, save it. This is HOLLYWOOD and nobody wants to see MILF-ey Lois and her toyboy Superman.
