With Netflix garnering acclaim with House of Cards (itself adapted from a ’89 series out of Great Britain), Amazon is now throwing their name into the original programming hat* as well. To that effect, we can look forward to the continued adventures of Tallahassee, Wichita Columbus and Little Rock in the form of Zombieland: The Series on their Prime Instant Video Service. Whether or not that’s a good idea remains to be seen. Honestly, good writing can absolutely save this show even if the quick cash-in premise leaves a lot to be desired from the outset. For now, Amazon is providing us this really rudimentary one sheet:

Um… that picture kind of looks awful and that tagline is even worse. This isn’t quite Wolverine levels of bad but it’s not far off.

What is up with all the terrible marketing departments these days? I first noticed the trend with Adult Swim, who listen to Tim & Eric way too much, and all of their god awful commercials. Did the rest of the industry follow suit, thinking that the way you appeal to young people is to make something look shitty?
First, yes, this promotional work is shit.
But more importantly, I don’t understand why they’re using the same characters as the movie, especially when they didn’t even bother to try and cast look-a-likes. Is the universe so limited that they couldn’t come up with any more interesting characters? Or are these literally the only four people left on Earth? With the exception of the scattered, disguised celebrity, of course.

I can deal with everyone but Tallahassee. The casting from a purely does-he-look-right perspective is atrocious. I feel sorry for the actor, because he just doesn’t have lead written on him in any way. He looks b-rate at best and I think it goes a long way towards how serious anyone in this project is taking it.
