If I wasn’t already super-keen to see Be Kind, Rewind, I would be after watching this new version of the film’s trailer.
Michel Gondry has remade the trailer for his own film in much the same way that Jack Black and Mos Def remake films in the movie this clip is meant to advertise. This is viral marketing I can envy and respect, just like the talents of Gondry and his conspirators. If this doesn’t make you grin at least a little, please consult a doctor or a filmmaker.

Although some of the mediocre buzz from Sundance has dampened my expectations for this one, this is hilarious.
Gondry = video god.
Adorable.
My fear is that the clip is going to be better than the movie.
But i have faith.
this clip is up to par from what i expect from the guy behind eternal sunshine and those incredible bjork videos. the film itself, unfortunately, is painfully mediocre. i caught it at a screening last week… the (functionally retarded) characters are a mess, the best bits of the "sweded" films are all in the trailer, the message is welcome but cloying (and that last shot is nauseating), and – most egregiously – the script is horribly leaden. gondry is a master of visual whimsy, but on a narrative level there is so much here that aims to be clever and warm but simply falls on its face. i never want to see this again. now if you'll excuse me, i've got some bjork to watch…
First time ever I'm willing to see a movie with Jack Black in it; the things Michel Gondry can achieve!
