Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back on December 7 we exclusively revealed to you that Deadpool would be appearing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Now Aint It Cool is reporting that the character has an actor: Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool, aka the Merc with a Mouth, is a later generation X-Men character who is beloved for his wisecracking. He got his start in the Weapon X program along with Wolverine. Reynolds has been talking about playing the character forever; along with The Flash Deadpool was the character to whom he had staked a claim. Now that Warner Bros seems to be casting an infant as The Flash in the will-it-ever-happen Justice League movie, Reynolds at least has his Marvel choice. Putting Reynolds in the film obviously sets the character up for a spin-off, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see that getting talked up in the months ahead.

i like ryan reynolds. I agree with nick in his interview that the guy has yet to find the performance to define him yet. Despite the films themselves, he was really good in "Amityville" and "Smokin Aces", maybe this will be the perf that really nails it. "Merc with a mouth" sounds about right…..
I couldn't agree more with this casting. Especially if Reynolds gets all fucking yoked out like he did for Blade 3s. This movie might be pretty damn cool after all.
..and maybe we'll get an Origins movie for Deadpool too. And a crossover thingy, like they're doing with Hulk & Iron-Man

Deadpool even joked about Ryan Rennolds playing him in the first arc of Cable/Deadpool ("This whole 'Ryan Rennolds crossed with a sharpei' thing I have going.") so I think it would be a FANTASTIC fit. And if it spins off? All the better.
Reynolds is perfect casting if they go with the silly, wisecracking Deadpool from the comic. And he shouldn't stand out in a bad way with how top notch the rest of the cast is.
