Over on the Superhero Hype message boards, a tipster dropped the news that Taylor Kitsch, one of the stars of the Friday Night Lights television series, has been signed to a three-picture deal playing Gambit. His first appearance? Gavin Hood’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
That’s all the news, such as it is; Gambit is likely one of a handful of muties that will be making small appearances in the film. I like the ongoing attempt to broaden the Marvel Universe in cinemas by having characters dip into films, but did it have to be Gambit? Video game appearances aside (where his staff makes him a fun playable character) Gambit has been little more than an irritant since Claremont and Lee created him in 1990. On film I fear his his card-throwing Rogue-loving persona will grate worse than Storm’s dialogue in the first movie.

I grew up a big Gambit fan so personally I am super excited about this.
I think Gavin Hood has the chance to do something pretty cool here, we might get some X3 level kick ass action with X2 level quality film making. That has me extremely excited.
Since continuity doesn't seem to matter in these movies, maybe Logan kills him off in the first movie. We'll only see him in flashbacks where Wolverine says something like, "Remember when I killed Gambit? Man, that was hilarious. He threw a friggin' CARD at me!".
You know what was a "Gambit" that failed? Hiring that no-talent fuck up to write for the front page. Am I a pussy? Huh? Fuck youtoo then, Nick. While you've been hanging out in stripclubs , the site is being damaged. The joke's on you, and its old
Hopefully this will be the moratorium on Josh Holloway support. Even though I'm kind of worried now, since this kid looks like a younger and prettier Holloway from a far worse show than Lost. Checking IMDB he was also in the Covenant, Snakes on a Plane, and John Tucker Must Die. This kid must have really nailed the audition, because he isn't even from New Orleans and he has three of the biggest turds from recent memory on his resume. Even Harry Connick Jr would be better than this guy.
I guess they couldn't keep up the first class casting for this movie the whole way through. Good luck kid, everyone else is going to eat you alive.
Hey, Russ. Long time fan. Did I say I wanta punch Owen in the face? Fuck that guy!
It's like the VENOM thing; I just don't know why fans are so crazy about this guy! But, whatever–he's on and kids are gonna be happy
butt sex.
I actually thought Taylor Kitsch would make a great Madrox if a X-Factor movie was ever made (which I think would be fuckin excellent). However, as chances for that happening are incredibly slim, I guess he could be a good Gambit. And yeah…while he's been in some stinker movies, Kitsch is pretty solid in "Friday Night Lights" – even if his character is a little one note.
Gambit is cool. Screw you guys.
Why do some CHUD editors always diss the samet hings: Gambit and the movie Hook?
Luckily, Nick enjoyed Batman Begins well enough that it kinda breaks the 'cynical' circle of doom for Nolan.
Gambit? Who's next to guest star in Wolvie's life? Shia Lebouf as Cable?
Harry Connick, Jr. would have made an AWESOME Gambit. I have been saying that since the first X-Men movie came out.
