I wrote recently about the young actor Kodi-Smit McPhee landing the role of the Boy in John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. Now, according to Superhero Hype, it seems that his work on that film will pre-empt his casting as the young Logan in Gavin Hood’s Wolverine. So that role has been recast, via the magic of YouTube.
An Australian news clip reports that ‘talent scouts’ saw footage of Troye Mellet, a lad from Perth, singing on YouTube and cast him as baby Logan after seeing an audition tape. I’ve embedded two performance clips below for your enjoyment…or perhaps your grandmother’s. The kid’s got some pipes, sure, and he’s already got the sideburns to play Logan, but lets wait to make the real judgement about his abilities until we see some film footage. Unless your dismissive comments are actually funny, in which case cue snarky, stupid comments about Tales of X-Men Presents: Gavin Hood’s Wolvie! The Musical below.
(Oh, right. AICN has some set photos from Wolverine, but they’re not at all impressive so I’m only linking to them as a pure afterthought.)

I'm pretty sure the hair was the main selling point for that kid.
Perth represent! Im not sure if it has much to do with it, but Jackman studied acting in Perth as well. So proud of my little city
Cry me a fuckin' river, kid.
Funny, because this is exactly how Hugh Jackman was cast after Dougray Scott was busy with MI2. Is it time to start talking curse?
I HURT!
