Jason Isaacs is going to recapture his Black Hawk Down magic as a US military officer in Paul Greengrass’ untitled Iraq War movie, currently shooting in Spain. The actor is the latest in a series of good names added to the movie, which of course begins with Matt Damon and includes the likes of Oscar nominees Amy Ryan and Greg Kinnear.
Greengrass’ movie is loosely based on the excellent book Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Baghdad’s Green Zone by Rajiv Chandrasekaran, a look at how badly the US blundered the post-invasion rebuilding of Iraq. The book is a sprawling piece of reporting without a narrative throughline, and Greengrass’ film, with a script by Brian Helgeland, will only use it as a touchstone and a source of incident and background.
I’m excited for this film, and I wonder if the Bourne combo of Damon and Greengrass can escape the curse of disinterest that the American film audience has for Iraq War movies. Here’s hoping.

What the fuck is a Republican party banner ad doing on CHUD.com?! That made me physically ill for a moment.
It's a banner ad, dipshit. Welcome to the Suck.
Are you so intolerant of others that you can't even handle a banner ad that you don't agree with?
No shit! If your so unhappy with life that a political banner ad gets you all pissy, I think I know a razor and hot bath that's calling your name…get a grip.
I love the staple of liberals supposedly being so tolerant of others yet they are the poster-persons (PC!) for being the most intolerant of any beliefs outside their own. Open-minded, my ass.
That's retarded. The Democratic party isn't the party spear-heading the anti-gay-marriage movement. But you suggest that "liberals" are the most intolerant because of one dumbass posting on a movie site? Jesus, listen to Jim and find the bathtub and the razor.
Unlike the people posting above me, I'm excited about this movie. Thanks for the update Devin.
the movie looks interesting with a solid cast.
a republican banner ad on a page about an iraq war movie is wonderfully ironic.
Tolerance is a dumb thing to promote.
You "tolerate" stuff that's hateful to you, that's what the word means. Why should minorities need to be "tolerated"? What did they ever do wrong?
So yeah, "tolerance" as a virtue means not giving people shit who've done you no harm. Republicans do harm as a matter of course, it's what they believe in. And complaining about something you don't like is not illiberal, as long as you don't like it for a good reason.
Short version, stfu right-wing dimwits.
I like Jason Isaacs. That is all.
If I wanted to see a fictionalized version of the war in Iraq, I'd watch Fox News.
Penis?
Horse Delight.
