I’d like to take this space to address concerns that have been aired a number of times over the years: namely that we, the internet movie news people, play up things too much and that by the time you see the thing, you’re disappointed that it did not gently cup your balls while blowing you and then scrub the caked on shit off that one baking tray that’s been soaking for the last day. Sorry, I guess. There are some things you have to keep in mind, though. One is that you, the people who read this site and other movie sites every day all day, are really in the minority. The rest of the people come by once in a while, and if you look at the menu bar to the left of these words you’ll see that stories drop off pretty damn quick. For this occasional majority, we’re not overhyping the film – we may just be barely catching their attention! Ponder on that, mothafucka.
The second thing is that sometimes I feel like I can’t win with you, Faithful Reader. You get on my case when I’m negative about a movie and you get on my case when I’m psyched about a movie. I’m a human nerd, just like you – prick me, do I not bleed? – and I get excited about movies. Especially good ones. Over the years I’ve learned to tamp my hyperbole down, but the fact is that if I see a movie I really like, I’m going to get pumped up and want to tell you how good it is. When it comes to The Foot Fist Way, we’re all in the same boat – I haven’t seen it, but what I’ve seen of Danny McBride tells me that this is guy is it, the real deal. I’ve heard nothing but superlatives from everyone I know who saw this film, but I’m walking in with my expectations in check because I’m an intelligent adult.
So yeah, we’re going to keep on pimping The Foot Fist Way. And we’ll pimp the shit out of Pineapple Express this summer as well. I’d rather go a little overboard supporting a good movie than leave it out there unloved.

Honestly, as a ravenous reader and 'reload-er' of the page, I don't think you guys overblow films often. Most of the time, the movies you get excited about are the same as I do. And even if they aren't, they usually turn out to be good films anyways. Sure, there are occasions where the movie we're all excited about ends up being craptacular, but it's somewhat rare.
I can think of other sites that routinely go into 'geekgasm' (that term should tell you of whom i speak) mode over every little thing that comes down the pike and more often than not, the movie turns out to be not worth any of it. But Chud, taken on the whole is fairly level headed about which movies to love and which to hate.
In summary, your excitement often makes me excited as well just as your tearing apart of a film is normally well deserved and funnier than should be allowed by law. I say keep it up!
Devin, you gotta give the haters a pass. It's the whole net nightmare; relatively anonymous irascibility. Whenever I roll my eyes at some mouthbreathers asinine whine in the comments section (what is this, AICN?) I just think of Uncle Floyd, sitting in his underwear with his Rhinegold beer, bitching out the newscasters for being fat, lazy, or what have you- it's the same damn thing.
Stay strong brother, you've had me ever since n00bz vs. Fanboys
I'm sorry Devin were you saying something. My bad, I was just captivated by this banner ad that is asking people in Chicago to turn of their lights off for an hour on March 29 from 8-9 pm to save energy. I am guessing this is geo targeted so most of you probably aren't seeing it. Those who are and follow it's instructions, just know that I shouldn't have much of a problem blow drying my hair, while vaccuming… nude, with both the heat and the air conditioning on full blast cyphoning all your precious energy and cackling like caffinated hyena while you sit in the dark (or with candles) patting yourself on the back……….. Wicked poster by the way. Is that a new movie that is coming out soon, or something? Who's that dude with the glasses. Hopefully, some info will trickle onto the site in the coming months….
Devin, thanks for that. Nice post. Dig this side of you.
Danny McBride and Jody Hill brought Foot Fist Way to my college last year (NCSA, where they went to school) and screened it.
It's as funny as everyone is saying it is. Amazing? Maybe. Greastest movie ever? Nah. Funny as shit? Yes.
Devin you suck more than Harry.
devin, your pity party has made my nipples engorged with milk. come suckle until your tears subside.
Chud is often guilty of over-hype and "I just jizzed in my pants"-like nonsence (non-science), but thankfully not too much. For example, how good can a film like 'once' actually be? Especially when it makes you cry Devin…
But CHUD is leagues ahead of cunts like AICN. At least you guys use proper English, with readable sentences, and logical grammar. It makes all the difference really.
I'm rarely let down by a CHUD endorsement. Although I still don't get the love for Beerfest. Have you really stood back and watched that movie? There are parts that make Revenge of the Nerds 3 look like fucking Gone With The Wind. I mean I love Broken Lizard as much as the next guy, maybe more as I liked Club Dread, but Beerfest was an embarassment. I still think you guys got a little too close to Lizard and refused to call them out for Beerfest. Otherwise I haven't been at odds with much of the CHUD hype. I even agreed with Devin's indictment of Batman Begins. What a fucking joke that movie spiraled into (after such initial promise). Why do people defend that one?
Devin, I've got nothing against this site. Nor do I often find myself disagreeing with you — any of you. Plus, you don't shill the hell out of something nearly as often as the folks at AICN. You guys are, oh, what's the word… Objective, I suppose. My only concern is the trailer didn't make me so much as chuckle. I hope it lives up to the word of mouth, but I have often been let down my word of mouth when it comes to comedy. But if yous guys say it's got the goods, well, I have no choice but to invest a little optimism in the flick.
This movie will suck to some of you. But to those who really appreciate it – will be rewarded with McBride riches as far as the eye can see.
