In my humble opinion the new trailer for Hellboy II: The Golden Army kicks ass. I know that some of you may think that my trip to the set and multiple interviews with Guillermo del Toro have colored my opinion, but keep in mind that I was the CHUD guy who wasn’t completely sold on the first film. Everything that I’ve seen from this one, though, tells me that this is going to be THE superhero movie of July.
I especially love all the monsters on display. I was lucky enough to see a lot of them in real life when I visited the set of the Troll Market (which is where you see a lot of the beasts milling about in the trailer), and it’s amazingly cool that Guillermo did most of the monsters practically. If you’re going to be in New York two weekends from now, try to get to the New York Comic Con – you might get a chance to see some more cool things from this film and with these monsters.

That's gotta be some of the worst trailer music I have ever heard. I was waiting for Michael Turney and James Saito to pop up somewhere.

Remember Fantastic 4? The movie that was "Better than Batman Begins"? Never since Harry Knowles love of "Godzilla" and "Blade 2" has one statement summed up why internet critics are mostly ignored.

On topic: Hellboy was great, and this one will hopefully will be too, but I don't think it'll hold a candle to Dark Knight.

Hmmm. I'm actually less enthusiastic about this movie after seeing this trailer. The first trailer was better. Now the movie is looking pretty bloated and hokey. All the nonsense about the princess and the "truce between worlds" rings very, very stale.
…still waiting for someone to actually pan a movie after being whisked off for a set visit to said film. Nice to see integrity still rules the day around here and the lesser movie sites.
Devin may be wrong about Hellboy vs DK (or he might not), but you stupid twats sound like complete assholes in this talkback. I don't know if you hate Hellboy or you hate Devin, but if it's the former, you're wasting your time reading this, and if it's the latter, you could learn something from his writing. The main point, though, is fuck your hate.
Doesn't seem like there's much Hellboy hate here at all, most seem to agree this looks like fun. Maybe not as much fun as Devin is having baiting Batman fans, but that's his prerogative, even if it is getting a little boring, nay, churlish, at this stage. Especially since, fun as HBII seems, it still can’t hold a candle to what we’ve seen from TDK.

Hey why can not someone like both the Batman and Hellboy film. I think I might as both are my favorite characters. Of course who knows how good both films may be. As for the FF the best version of that was THE INCREDIBLES hands down!;)

I won't even enter into the pissing contest about which summer comic book blockbuster will be better. I think we can all agree that it's going to be an expensive summer where most of the movies look as good as the hype, unlike last year. Lets A franchise film from DC, Marvel and Dark Horse in one year. Lets stop bitching about which will be better and be happy these are even out there.
im just excited to have two awesome looking superhero movies coming out within a week of each other. batman begins was awesome, but the third act was a little on the silly side (didn't hurt my enjoyment of the movie at all, though). im maybe looking forward to Hellboy 2 a little more because because of Del Toro. No offense to Nolan, but Del Toro is hands down the better filmmaker.

Are we really looking forward to The Dark Knight that much? All I can say is, I hope there's no action in it. I like to pretend that the fear chemical in Batman Begins is really peyote, and that the director was taking it all through the filming of act III. It's the only thing that makes sense.

i loved hb1 dearly, but i think gdt is going too far here… i'd like to see a real relationship build between hb and liz but i fear there will be no time… frankly, i wish gdt would concentrate his efforts more along the lines of that masterpiece pan's labirynth… and the norwegian albino hippies look about as awful as the matrix white rasta guys…
