A video (or photo montage, rather) of someone unboxing the Grand Theft Auto 4 special edition has gone live on Game Trailers. It’s this kind of shit that’s making the wait impossible. Check it out.
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you, but it’s less than a week away. 6 days. If you’re any kind of gamer you’ve probably got the hours and minutes counted down, too. And if you’ve got something to do on Tuesday and won’t be able to play it right away, like me, you’re probably crying inside just a little bit. Unless of course you can find someone to sell it to you early…
But as for what version you’re getting- how many of you will be picking up the 90 buck special edition shown in the video?

Am I the only gamer on the planet who could not be less interested in more repetitive "shoot the hooker" and "drive the ambulance" missions? I lost interest after Vice City, honestly. I really don't see what people keep coming back to this series for. New cars? New weapons? Same "do whatever you want and then die, and have no lasting effect on the game world" style of gameplay? Pass.
i like how you guys will get excited about Beat Up Hookers 4, yet the new Metal Gear game is "more of the same" to you… even though it's a completely different game. this is why we keep getting redundant shooters instead of legitimately thought-provoking games nowadays. keep it up!
Sean, your idiot criticisms could be used against ANY game. If you don't like GTA's gameplay (which is among the LEAST repetitive out there), you don't like videogames – which isn't a bad thing…
Looks like the back room of a GameStop or something. Asshole will probably take the game home, play it all week, then bring it back on Monday, rebox it and sell it Tuesday as "brand new".
Pssst, Sean – there are actual story missions in the game. You've been playing it wrong.
So the extensive sandbox world of previous GTA games was just a bunch of "beat the hookers" or "drive the ambulance" missions? Are you a downs baby, Sean?
vash- that's the first time I've ever heard Metal Gear referred to as thought-provoking. Metal Gear is as redundant as any other game out there. And it ain't that it's bad! It just isn't as good as you fanboys make it out to be. But seriously- are more of you going to be getting the special or regular editions?
Hey Game Creators! I'm still waiting for my GTA with zombies game. Thank you.
Wow, idiot to downs baby? I like gta as much as anyone else, but to totally rip on someone who doesn't, that just makes you all tards.
I am picking up the special edition for sure! The soundtrack should be good and I could always use a lock box and duffel bag (to keep heads in…ba dum bum).
I really don't think GTA is repetitive at all! There is always SOMETHING to do for fun if you don't want to do the missions or get stuck. This new gen version should only amplify that I believe.
GTA with Zombies? It came out already and was called Dead Rising.
I'm going for the regular version. I refuse to buy special editions.
I'm getting the special edition because I have nothing resembling self restraint when it comes to metal packaging. And as for the GTA with zombies, there's both Dead Rising and the classic "Zombie vs Ambulance" for PS2. Good times.
I'm getting the special edition. I'm a sucker for pretty packaging. Plus you can't beat the price considering what you get.
Regular edition for me. The idea of buying a special edition for a video game seems ludicrous to me unless there's some kind of extra in-game content. They can keep the stupid knick-knacks.
I'm getting the regular edition. While I thought the Big Daddy statue that came with Bioshock SE was awesome, I generally don't care much for the extras.
i think they were ripping on him for why he said he didn't like gta, because to call it repetitive by way of "shoot the hooker" missions shows a level of ignorance that can only be explained by someone lacking the intelligence to further explain their opinion, ie. someone who is an idiot, or possibly, someone with downs.
also, were there even shoot the hooker missions? i think it's more something you can do if you want.
and metal gear?
ugh, so many long ass cut scenes i had to check that i didn't throw a final fantasy game in. and the story hasn't been good since the ps one.
as awesome as gta 4 is going to be, i'm actually looking forward more to saint's row 2, as it has online co-op for story mode.
I want the Special Edition but I'll be buying the regular edition. Ninety bucks is an almost offensive price point. Just as bad as the Halo cat helmet.
Ill be picking up the regular edition. Although a month down the road ill be loving the shit out of the game and hate myself for not getting the special edition. Just like i did with GOW, Halo 3 and Bioshock.
WHERE…IS…OWEN?! Enough with the anti-Indiana Jones 4 and anti GTA 4!!
Regular edition for me. The temptation for the special edition is high, but then I think about all the Rock Band songs I can buy with that extra $30. The choice is clear.
Only an idiot would buy the $90 special edition. Which is why I'm going to look like a big idiot sometime after midnight on the 29th. Although this is the first "special edition" game I've ever bought if you don't count those Working Designs games that only came in a "special edition".
