We don’t know a lot about Tony Scott’s upcoming remake of The Taking of Pelham One, Two Three, but really? What details do you need? Denzel is playing the Walter Matthau role (I can dig that, I guess) and John Travolta is in Robert Shaw’s role, which is, well, um….yeah. But it’s got to be better than the made for TV version, right?

The original is one of my favorite movies ever.
They should get Jerry Stiller to reprise his role. He looks almost exactly the same now as he did then.

i'm just the opposite. i love tony scott and i really love tony scott with denzel. that i can go for. travolta? he's become one of those actors i can't separate from his roles. i got expectactions on this one. i expect to like and enjoy it as i do almost every tony scott flick. (waiting for the rest of the world to respect his genius.)
Wow, so glad someone else is into this BECAUSE of Scott. His work with Denzel is his best work to date, Man on Fire, Crimson Tide, Deja Vu. Though i can't STAND Scott's early work, except Top Gun, which i can't watch enough. Love it.
exactly….and if we could only get the commecials he made with ridley developed into full length features life would be perfect.
actually, that isn't fair. giving a benefit of doubt, i am only interested in this movie because tony scott is directing it. he's proved time and time again that he can make good solid action films which is what the creators if pelham 1,2,3 were doing themselves. as was many directors in the past who have seen their movies remade, sometimes time and time again. will it be great or will it be genius? i don't care as long as it's solid. the big problem with film today is that we don't care anymore about solid. that's why lumet still can't get the b.o. numbers and the current crop of film fans can't be bothered to check him out. all everyone cares about is "…this is the worst fucking film ever made!!!" or "…this movie is the most awesome film ever. seriously, i'm going to own all thirty variations of this film on dvd!!!" let's get back to the idea of film as a disposable artform so that real talent gets a chance to breathe.

Don't know how they can top the original. With Tony onboard expext a lot of bombast and overblown drama (and I'm a fan!). Still I'd be lying if I said the grizzled Denzel wasn't piqueing interest. Can't be worse than the Donnie W remake.
i'm not expecting them to top it. just give me an enjoyable film. like i said, not too happy about travolta as shaw. robert shaw was a genius playwright and actor. it's the same problem i have with the hobbit. i'm never gonna get richard boone out of my head as smaug. i'm hoping travolta can pull it off but there is the bulk of my doubts on this movie.

Is it me or is Denzel looking like David Mamet in that get up? Anyway, at least he's changing looks for new characters. Hopefully QT does a script polish like on Crimson Tide, you know since he doesn't seem to be doing much.
