We’re about to transition from three-quarters of a year filled with very little to get excited about into the final stretch of 2008, which will feature at least half a dozen must-see films. One of them, by all accounts, is Slumdog Millionaire, the latest by Danny Boyle.
I love Fox Searchlight for picking up the film and really getting it out there for a November 12 opening. But I’m not sure about this poster, which Anne Thompson has as an exclusive first-look. If I didn’t know anything about the film the combination of colors, game-show elements and shadowy composition would repel rather than entice. You tell me if I’m the only one.
Check Anne Thompson’s blog for the entire image.

I quite like it. I think the "Who wants to be a Millionaire" design elements in the tag line is quite clever and works well.
That said… Do they give away a million rupees in the Indian version of the show? Because that would only be worth, like, US$20 000. Then again, 20 large would probably go pretty far in Mumbai.
What's with the horrible freeware grunge title font? It looks like a poster for a fucking student film.
This movie sounds great but that is a terrible, terrible poster. The cheese laden font and busy design look like a rejected club flyer. Fox Searchlight is the boutique label they should at least try to show some class.
That's the most interesting poster I've seen in a while, and it definitely inspired my curiosity. I do think the gameshow aspect is unnecessary – the 70's thriller implications are enough.
This is pretty tits. Can't wait to see this.
That is a poster only a young Steve Murphy could love.
