My esteemed colleague, Devin, says the new The Day The Earth Stood Still one sheet would look “boss on a Trapper Keeper.” I heartily agree. So what would you put the new trailer on? A lunchbox perhaps? I’m sure Apple is working on some swank new MP3 metal tote into which a stripling would put his / her school meal and on which could also watch a program. And if they’re not, they should be. But until the iLunchbox gets here, I suppose you’ll have to settle for IMDB of all places:
Thanks to Lucas for the tip.

If the only thing that can save us is Keanu's wooden acting, count me out.
GIANTS STADIUM was kinda shitty anyways. Shoulda been SHEA though…
Man… Chud liking it or not, doesn't matter. That thing will be HUGE!!!! Here in my country is all over the place and people are already commenting the trailer for weeks now.
BTW, if there is someone who can save the world, it is Keanu. The man was already Buddha and Neo!
You know, Keanu would really be taken seriously in real life if he did have a giant laser-beam-equipped robot pal with hm.
Chud don't be so hard on it. Maybe it could be a masterpiece? I'm not kidding.
"This video is not available in your country." Yeah, fuck you potential ticket buyers!
"This video is not available in your country."
Before Chud posts these kind of links they should include a disclaimer its not for outside the USA.
After all 78% of CHUD'S readership is from Canada,Belgium.Iceland and Oceania.
That 'not available in your country" stuff is some bullshit. First I've ever heard of something like that. I amended the article to include the disclaimer. Thanks for the heads up.
I think Keanu has proven himself a fine lead. Wooden? I don't agree. That said, the stadium disintegrating as the big moment in the trailer is a big let down. A bad special effect. They better have more than that or they should stop pretending a blatant CGI can still shock our sense.
People criticizing Keanu clearly haven't seen the original. He's got just the right detached mannerisms for the role – Michael Rennie was also somewhat stiff and awkward. Casting Keanu as Klaatu is the best thing about the movie. The rest, of course, is deep-fried dick. They've taken a quiet, contemplative sci-fi story about big ideas and turned it into a sub-Emmerich noisy mess.
Tru dat, #10, but I'm still going to see it!
I live in Canada, and this unplayable trailer business happens A LOT, actually. I've never been able to play a single thing posted by MTV ever. I believe it's largely because different people have the rights to distribute different materials in any given country. I know it's the case with MTV, as we have MTV Canada up here. Problem is, for the most part, the folks up here who DO have the rights usually aren't exercising them, so we still don't get to see what the guys in the States can't show us. I always thought that the internet was supposed to be a more "global" experience.
I'm gonna be hitting the snooze alarm on this one when it comes out. Don't worry, you too will forget this movie ever existed in two years.
