As we’re all anxiously anticipating any nugget of info – another trailer, cast photo, or plot detail from J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, we get a boulder dropped in front of us…or at least a creature the size of one. RobertHood.net has posted a couple of pics of some ginormous mouth monster who doesn’t come across as a vegetarian. No word on exactly what it is or whom it’s getting ready to munch. But considering the haze around it, it looks like it could have been one of the extras from The Mist. Click the images below to enmonsterize:

That's young Kirk stuck on a snow planet for some reason after someone (Sylar maybe) beams him off the ship. And that 'Monster' is just one of the natives. And the 'Mouth' is just its vagina. Kirk plus natives equals sweet sweet lovemaking. He's getting ready to mount that B in the second photo.
Isn't this from the trailer? I thought I saw a few flashes of this thing in there.
This is from the trailer. How are you just noticing this now? And you can see in the trailer that it's snow, not haze, so that might be Kirk standing in front of it.
Yes, it is from the trailer. It's kind of hard to miss, actually, being sort of unlike most of the other shots in the trailer. And it's clearly depicting some knd of ice planet environment during a blizzard, as opposed to a mist. I was a little baffled as to why we were getting fixated here on a couple of frames from the Star Trek trailer that we've all seen by now, as though it were…well…news…
Much like the busy and unnecessary redesign of the Enterprise and the top off shot of Uhura in the trailer, this critter smacks of "hey, wouldn't this look good if….?", I may be way off on the story details, but if this beastie is indigenous to the ice ball planet, then my frustrations mount, bright red colouring on a snowy landscape!?!? It like shooting up a flare saying "Predatory Animal here, all prey take notice", Star Trek is supposed to be smart as well as fun and adventurous.
Cheers
Yes, this is a screw up on my part. Big screw up, obviously. My sincere apologies. Check out the MB for appropriate flogging. I'll try to do better not to waste anyone's time in the future.
Snowy environment… Monster… Vagina… Insert Sarah Palin joke here. I should definitely write for Leno.
D.O. does it again!
I thought these were stills from Cloverfield 2: Making the Video. OMG! I just thought about J.J. Abrahms sick obsession with web site and AR games. What if he is trying to link Cloverfield, Star Trek, Alias, Lost together with…I don't know…Space: Above and Beyond? The ultimate crossover! Comics, DVD's, albums, web sites, soda cans, vending machines…
That shit was in the trailer. Nice "scoop".
It is from the trailer from a very brief sequence that most non-obsessive Trek' fans probably didn't even notice. That and it definitely should be brought up since it does pertain to the horror and monster elements of the film which should be of more interest to the readers of this site than just another pic of the 'Enterprise' ship. It's definitely not a huge breaking scoop by any means, but thanks for posting it Mr. Oliver.
You don't need to be obsessive to notice this is the trailer, man. It's pretty fuckin' apparent. I just love the nerds screaming "It's the Cloverfield monster!"
Oh, shut the fuck up.
Are you new? This was CLEARLY shown in the trailer, how did you not notice a white screen with a giant friggin monster
Okay Kirk, just gather some materials to make a rudimentary lathe …
I didn't see the trailer (crap PC), so it's news to me at least. There's no need to give the guy hell for posting something that was nested within something else; not everyone has had access to the same stuff y'all have. Things are bound to get lost or confused.
looks like its the rock monster from Galaxy quest, just with more teeth.
Is he going to fuck that?
Weak minded puny Earth human, if you only knew what awaited you beyond the veils of space and time in deepest bleak space you would pray to your savior-god to deliver you back to the ground where you were spawned. The Elder Gods from PlaNeT-X have no need for your scrawny monkey flesh save food. When the fallen gigantic gods return, all you will be able to do is weep. Weep for your ruined world. "I'd hit it," Kirk.
So apparently Kirk visits the Cloverfield monster's homeworld?
Screw this, where are the CGI-Tribbles?
