I am dying to see The Hurt Locker. Everyone I know has seen the movie at various fests, and it screened for critics in LA, but I have not yet had a chance to catch it. Which wouldn’t be such a big deal if everybody who has seen it didn’t fucking adore the movie. Like, really go nuts for it.
Good for Kathryn Bigelow, who has been suffering in director jail post-K-19: The Widowmaker, despite having both Near Dark and Point Break on her resume!
The film, which hits on June 26th, now has a one sheet. I’m not 100% sold on it – at first glance that looks like the Arctic, not Iraq, but I guess you don’t want to sell this as Iraq War movie since nobody wants to see Iraq War movies – but I do like that the pull quotes fucking kill. ‘Near-perfect’ from Time? That’s no internet blurb whore. That’s the real shit.
Hopefully I’ll soon be able to join the chorus of voices praising The Hurt Locker. Can’t wait to get a look at it myself.
