Fandom was left stunned when Sylvester Stallone announced that he’d follow up the fairly well-received Rambo with a movie where John Rambo hunted down a genetically altered monster. What, people asked, is this shit?
Sly listened to the baffled cries from his fans and has changed the script for Rambo 5. Gone is the monster, back in are evil Mexicans! Stallone contacted the folks at StalloneZone and let them know about the change:
I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished .
There will be blood.
Oh thank God. Rambo raining destruction on an ethnic minority is exactly what we want in a Rambo film, and I hope that Rambo 5 continues the insane levels of gore begun in the previous chapter.

Cannot wait!!! make this now!
Comes to his senses? The book, Hunter, is fucking awesome. The only think that would sucked is if the 21 year old hunting partner was replacing the wolf.
I've wanted a film to deal with the femicide in Juarez for a long time. 400 recorded murders of women so far. I didn't expect it to be a Rambo movie that dealt with it though. I guess it's a good thing though, not many people seemed to know about Burma before seeing it in the last film.
"There will be blood"? So.. he'll be fightning Daniel Plainview AND Jigsaw!??!
Hyperbolic statement. Something misspelled. Lack of self-awareness.
Maybe Tango could fight the man/beast. After all, "Rambo is a pussy."
I wanna see Rambo vs. The Bronx!
i've heard weird things about juarez. it's not impossible that this story could still involve elements of the supernatural.
I was kind of looking forward to seeing Rambo take on a formidable foe. It would have taken the Rambo series in a fun new direction. Now this just sounds like a run-of-the-mill retread of the last couple Rambo movies. I'll definitely be seeing whatever movie they make that's based off of "Hunter". That was an excellent book.
Why not split the difference and let Rambo get over the border to help the ladies, then have to tangle with a superchupacabras! It's a win win for everyone!
Yeah! This will be the "proper" ending to 2666!
the only monster that would work in a rambo is zombie brian dennehie
Sly is like a 12 year old fanfilm maker on the message boards, preaching, "Okay, so, we're gonna do this! And this! And it's gonna be unbelievable!" And he doesn't have a fuckin' idea what he's doing… Get your thoughts straight, ol' Sly, before you come spilling the retarded beans on us and then going back on what you said, because you saw another movie that changed your mood for the tone of the film.
Devin's comment about Rambo's preference for butchering ethnic minorities rings true. I mean, it would be cool as hell to see Rambo unleashing a barrage of bullets on white businessmen, but we wouldn't want to get any Republican panties in a wad, now would we?
Rambo taking on possible sex-slave traders in Mexico? I'm liking this new angle. Unfortunately, there are some sick basterds in the world that DO kidnap and traffic children to adults for money. I don't care if it's done by whites or minorities, it's still horrible. Rambo's commando expertise will set things a little better!
Las time I checked Mexico had a majority of Mexicans – or is he killing Mexican indians this time? Yeah, that must be what you meant Dev.
