The Matthew McConaughey vehicle The Lincoln Lawyer was circling Tommy Lee Jones to direct and co-star recently, but the picture will need to lock a new director to continue on as scheduled (they’re planning on shooting in the spring).
Variety makes sure to detail Jones’ many projects, including an HBO adaptation of a Cormac McCarthy’s The Sunset Limited (with Samuel L. Jackson!) and a Hemingway film based on Islands in The Stream. Full schedule aside, it is apparently the dreaded “creative differences” that killed this particular partnership.
So look for more news (there ain’t much meat on these bones folks) when the production fills the director’s chair, as well as whatever unknown role Jones would have been taking.
