Aint It Cool’s vigil on Vin Diesel’s Facebook page has finally paid off. After suffering through the actor’s numerous Farmville updates, they’ve noticed this status update:
The Riddick team is in New Zealand location scouting already… that’s exciting
Of course he doesn’t say that it’s for a new Riddick movie, and he doesn’t say they’ve got any money or a studio onboard, and of course Diesel has been a one man Riddick 3 booster club… but it’s possible that this is something. That there’s some movement on this long-threatened sequel to the hugely underwhelming Chronicles of Riddick. Will we finally see Riddick enter the Underverse? And even if it’s made, will we bother to go see it?
Defend Chronicles of Riddick with such stirring language as ‘it was okay’ on our message boards!

I'd bother to see a sequel to Pitch Black, but not a sequel to Chronicles of Riddick.
the chronicles of riddick is one of those movies for me that I can say I saw but I honestly don't remember a thing about it. Other than the fact that I went and saw the opening midnight show and the theater was half empty.

Pitch Black was a good movie but Chronicles sucked. Tha being said, I think the Riddick character is cool and it would be awesome if they made a big, sci-fi chase film. No necromongers or existential bullshit. Just a balls to the wall sci-fi action film.
Yeah, fun action pulp is the way to go, not epic wank pulp. Chronicles sure was pretty though…Pretty BAD, am I right guys? …Guys?

Gosh, you guys are really harsh on 'Chronicles'. It's not (insert personal favorite here), but it wasn't THAT bad. I enjoyed the scale and the action sequences. I wasn't expecting a great movie, so it worked for me. Just one geeks opinion…
You can say Riddick 3 is happening on the first day of filming. Until then it's Vin doing what he does; making some ambiguous and impossible-to-prove statement that implies forward progress. And I love him for it, btw, because I definitely want more Riddick films. If only Kurt Russel had cared this much about Snake.

Tundro, the movie you described is already being shot. It's called Robert Rodriguez's "Predators". I'm ok with another Riddick movie. If universal where smart, they'd green light a riddick film with a "300"ish budget, around 60-80 mill, and let twohy do his thing and hire some hard-ass producer/exec to keep Vins ego in check. And if they really wanted to take a risk, then green light two sequels budgeted around 70 mil each to be shot in New Zealand.

Wouldn't that be Riddick 4? I have the Riddick Trilogy pack. I know that one of the movies is animated, but it's still a film in the Riddick continuity.
Chronicles is a guilty pleasure for me. If they do away with the pg13 bs, make him a psychotic bad ass trying to get the girl back, going ot the underverse and leading a huge army and killing demons, I'm frickin DOWN. Also, on his FB page, he says in his previous post that he got the script from David Twohy for chronicles, so Yeah I'd assume thats what the new zealand scouting is for.
Seriously… it was ok. I'd be down for more
