As far as we know, it has nothing to do with drinking or Jewish folks. Rather, the governor of Veracruz, Fidel Herrera, has said that Gibson, who earlier this year donated $1 million to Veracruz and Chiapas to aid in the reconstruction of damaged homes, will film “a grand production” in part of the Ignacio Allende prison there. Herrera noted that part of the active prison will be cleared out so Gibson can bring his cameras and film-type folks to shoot something. What that something is has yet to be revealed.
I personally wouldn’t mind seeing Porter getting even with someone south of the border, but that’s just me.
Gibson previously filmed Apocalypto in Veracruz in 2006.

I'd like to open at least one story about Mel Gibson that doesn't make a bad-taste reference to his controversial comments. C'mon, journalism–you can do it. Don't go for the easy joke every fucking time.

At what point are these news items reported without the running commentary on someone's personal life or beliefs. How does Mel Gibson being a misogynist or anti-semite affect the calibre of film he directs. I understand adding humour to these postings gives this site and others like it its identity, but come on already. Film history is littered with complete lunatics who have made indelible contributions to the cinema. Dude, I just want to see a good movie. I could not care less about who sleeps with whom, who hates God or who thinks the universe was created by an alien named Guido.
