The Deadpool movie has been slowly, quietly been percolating over at Fox, and recent days may have seen some important developments. While nothing is official just yet, it looks like Fox could be hiring Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of Zombieland, to script the adventures of the Merc With A Mouth. I did my due diligence and asked around but couldn’t get a solid confirmation, so regard this one as a strong rumor.
But if it’s more than a rumor – and my source tells me there could be a trade break announcing this within days – it’s actually a very good sign for Deadpool. While the character was sorely abused in X-Men Origins: Wolverine – seriously, sewing his mouth shut? It was like a personal ‘fuck you’ to fans of the character – bringing on the folks who wrote Zombieland points to a funny tone that better suits the character. Between Ryan Reynolds insisting that Deadpool would break the fourth wall and the fact that the studio is at least talking with the writers of Zombieland, we could actually be looking at a film from Fox that doesn’t suck. Weird, huh?

I take all the positive Deadpool news that I can get. His movie treatment was probably even worse than what Joel Shoemaker gave Bane.
shouldn't use "been" twice like that in one sentence.
It appears the spam CAPTCHA needs some work.
..but Zombieland was just *half* funny. Bah, to me at least. I'm sure it killed american audiences..
"Half funny" is better than "not funny".
this is great news
this is great news. zombieland was great I thought. there was a few parts that dragged or fell flat, but i think they were more to do with the actor playing columbus rather than the script. And Reynolds is just natural a funny bastard, so it should work out great.
i have no more hope that Fox can make a decent supehero film, not as long as Ratman is in charge.
I'm sure it'll be a rom-com by the time Reynolds gets through with it.
What would be weird is an article from you that doesn't suck.
oh man, I would still like joe kelly and fabian nicieza to write the movie instead.
Who's Deadpool? What are we talking about? It's hard to keep up with the news when I've been watching Elektra four times a day since 2005.
Check out Zombieland that movie is good
