Sigourney Weaver is out doing the press rounds for this indie film called Avatar that she apparently appears in, and surprise of surprises- people are asking about Ghostbusters 3. It seems that she might have spilled a little more than she should have in a chat with Channel 4, telling some plot details that certainly miight be considered major spoilers. Read forward at your own risk.
She told Channel 4 News: “I’m afraid to say it [Ghostbusters 3] is happening, I hope people are excited about that. I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have had a couple of calls asking ‘would you read the script’.
“I know that my little son Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster.”
“I might be in it; I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it – he’s a ghost.”
That certainly sounds like a natural prog- wait, WHAT? He’s a ghost? Possibly a ghostbusting ghost?
Well, that definitely changes everything. The idea of Oscar becoming part of the group has long been thought to be a good idea- those old men will certainly need some new blood to help them, but now everyone’s going to be all a-buzz with what will happen to Murray.

Murray as a ghost is no surprise, as it's something he's long been asking for ever since the idea of a 3rd was being tossed around.
Not sure if I'm crazy about this or not.
I'd hate to see the ghostbusters have a "pet" ghost that follows them around in the form of Bill Murray.

Interesting if all the originals are ghosts and it runs as foreshadowing event to the movie. The GB's mysteriously disappeared and are just now trying to warn the living as ghosts? Better than another rehash/retread anyway.
It doesn't have to mean that his character would have had to have died or anything, would it? Maybe in the 20 years since we've last seen them, they've created a way to travel back and forth between dimensions or something for the sake of transporting supernatural prisoners or meeting with peaceful ghosts that are not in need of being busted. It could be the Ghostbusters version of Marvel's Negative Zone, and maybe Murray could be stuck there in need of rescue. Who knows?
I can't imagine that Murray would agree to be a sidekick, but we know that he's not going to be a leading role either. My bet is that Venkman's ghost is going to be the MacGuffin. The new ghostbusters will have to save him from some kind of limbo, or bring him back to life, or something. That's my prediction. Either way it's stupid. I just want a new adventure with the four old dudes, acknowledging full well that they're four old dudes and probably feeling closer to the ghosts they catch with each passing year.
Yes, that Murray as a ghost rumor is as old as Gozer. And I don´t like the idea.

I say go for it, but only if they have a great script. If it's just a last attempt at recapturing the spirit of the original for old times sake like Indiana Jones and the weak ass raiders of ark wannabe I'll kill myself and all of you.
This movie is going to be the new phantom menace. Can't believe dweebs are clamoring for this shit. Outside of Murray, everyone else attached to this is way past their prime. Except for Weaver. Galaxy Quest proved the womans got fuckable cleavage.

I like the idea of the old Busters trainng new younger ones played by the popular comedy actors of today. Their replacements should be Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Martin Starr and Craig Robinson.
Yeah, it's really really clear Sigourney is out of the loop on this one, the Murray is a ghost thing is way, way way old. There was a time when Murray jokingly told an interviewer, who asked if he'd come back for GB3, and he said he'd do it if he were a ghost. Aykroyd, desperate to get Murray into anything, took the idea seriously and wrote it into the script, which I think Weaver has. That script is LONG gone.
As long as there isn't a nu metal band playing the ghostbuster theme song, I'm pretty much open to giving them the benefit of the doubt.
this is going to flop…the well is empty fellas…all dried up…no amount of "star power" can make this work….
