IDW Publishing and Paramount Licensing announced today that they’re publishing a digital comic that’s exclusive to the iPhone and iPod through the iTunes App Store. With the short and succinct title of Paranormal Activity: The Search For Katie, A Case Study by Dr. Johann Averys DMN it follows one Dr. Averys as he tries to find out what happened to Katie.

Most people were SO disappointed that they gave the movie 107 million bucks.
And it wasn't a cliffhanger.

Wow, even in the comic, it's all gonna be from one angle. And apparently they had someone's 12 year old kid trace some photos it in Photoshop. Full Color Door-slammin' Action! In your face.
Here's the thing Alex: Just because YOU were disappointed by the ending doesn't mean MOST people were. And it wasn't a cliffhanger you fucking child.
The original ending, non-cliffhanger, was so much better. Less of a RAaRR in your face shock and just more unsettling.
The movie was great, with the exception of the hokey exorcism video, which I hear was cut out later.
The theatrical ending is dumb.
Funny, Paramount says that the movie ends with a cliffhanger in the press notes. Love when you guys get so jumpy though, it's cute!
Just because the movie made a lot of money doesn't mean that people weren't disappointed. Last I remember, you pay BEFORE you see the movie, and a movie can still make 100 million whether people end up liking it or not. I've been describing it to people that are on the fence about seeing it as a horror movie for people that don't watch horror movies. Also, I don't buy the ending as a cliffhanger either. It was basically "crazy stuff happens, the girl is never seen again", and I can buy that as an ending without feeling the need to find out what happened to her. I thought the movie was well made for what it was, and the marketing really made it feel like I HAD to see it, but I feel absolutely no need whatsoever to watch it again, except to check out the original ending, and even then I can skip ahead to the last 5 minutes. Anyone else think that the characters in the movie had WAY too easy of a time getting to sleep, particularly towards the end? Stuff gets crazier, yet they're totally crashed out and comfortable just like they were at the beginning.
I hate the artwork.
This was clearly an open ended film, but I suppose the question is whether or not it means it ends on a cliffhanger. Of course Paramount would call it a cliffhanger. It gives them a reason to make a sequel somewhere down the road if the opportunity presents itself. Did District 9 have a cliff hanger? It was pretty open ended in certain respects, but I don't believe either of these movies have anything in terms of a cliffhanger. To me, a cliffhanger implies that the whole story has not been told, like the ending of the second Pirates movie. I'm pretty sure the director never really planned on continuing the story, choosing to leave it open. The important moments happened on screen, and I was satisfied. This comic seems wholly unnecessary, and to betray the whole "less-is-more" approach to horror the film uses so well.
