One of the films I’m most excited to see at Sundance is Runaways, the story of the all-girl protopunk band from the 70s. Starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cheri Currie, the movie has the look of the era down perfectly, but what about everything else?
This new trailer, brought to my attention by Ken B, doesn’t quite answer those questions – it’s a real teaser. But I think that’s actually Dakota Fanning singing Cherry Bomb over the second half of the trailer, or at least it sort of sounds like her (I’m almost certain it’s not actually Currie). It would be pretty cool if the girls in the movie really played all their own instruments instead of lip synching to old hits.
