Were you scared when you heard that Kevin Smith was directing a buddy cop film, since he’s never shown that he has any bit of skill in framing or pacing action pieces? It looks like the action will be the least of our concerns here, as the new trailer for Cop Out (previously titled A Couple of Dicks) is trying so very hard to be funny, and failing at it completely. This is why too much of Tracy Morgan being silly is not a good thing. (How much better would it have been if he were playing the straight man, and Willis the wackjob?)
I’d say you can count the laughs here on one hand, but really you could count them on one hand that’s been mangled beyond recognition in a wheat thrasher.
Check it out for yourself at Apple and forget about it till it hits theaters in February.

Kevin Smith must have agreed to do this piece of shit for a pile of money and all the dope he can smoke. That trailer was fucking awful.
Osterman, Smith has been very clear that this was not a big paycheck for him. Rather, it was a chance to do something different and not direct his own script. Plus, he really loves Willis.
Sure, the trailer is not good, but the "tradition of Warner Brothers" framing was clever, and really sounds like it was Smith's only input on the trailer. This feels like a trailer made by a crappy studio marketing department.
The style of the film looks line, and I have tremendous faith in Kevin to get funny performances out of the cast.
Looks abysmal. The whole opening of "from the studio…" starts out tired and obvious and unfunny, and then the jokes stop.
Who the fuck is Tracy Morgan? I have never, ever seen him in any movie before.

This movie is funny, don't let this bullshit trailer fool you, and Kevin stop fucking smoking weed you may have a shitpile of money but you don't wanna become that guy who used to make a good movie occasionally then fade into oblivion
On Sold Out: Threevening, Kevin said that Bruce wanted to do something with him after Live Free Die Hard, and I guess this was his chance to do so. I don't care if everybody's down on it, I'm gonna see it anyway.

Kevin Smith is one of the most overrated "talents" ever in the history of movies. He is the Woody Allen of Idiocracy. He may be funny and engaging as a public speaker or a talk show guest, but his movies are ineptly executed, adolescent shit smears. All of them.
Tracy Morgan is not funny…much like this trailer. Loaded Weapon looks like a better cop parody…and that had an Estevez in it…

In Kevin's defense, WB told him to back off; he made the movie, THEY'LL market it. I'm willing to bet he had NOTHING to do with the trailer. It's too bad this is how most movies are reviewed by the "internet elitists": "I saw the trailer, that movie sucks."

Meh. Morgan's funny, the rest of it looks like generic paint by numbers. But I've never been overly impressed by Smith anyway, so in his case generic hollywood tripe could be a step up. I mean, would this be at all improved by having the characters engage in the usual Smithian repartee about movies and other fanboy obsessions?

honestly I was more super excited by hearing the part of the old KRS-One song, although they cut the coolest bit of the song out. You know thats the sound of the police, thats the sound of the beast… kind of the whole point of the song, but I digress… Anyway I was more excited about the song than anything else in the trailer. The rest… It looked nice. I'de watch it, but I'm not super excited about it.
Fuck the haters, I just wathed the trailer and it made me laugh. I will be seeing this when it come out and I expect to enjoy it.
Serioulsy people, the movies not even out now and your basing "This movie sucks and this is Smiths worst ever based on a trailer that WB probably cut all the funny out of to be approved for all audiences. Kevin Smith is a freaking hysterical writer. And even the movies I wasnt incredibly impressed with I still saw impressive writing. Oh, and how many movies have all the haters written or directed to hace such superior knowledge?
