Because really, what’s a Kevin Smith movie without copious amounts of dick jokes?
The new red band trailer for Cop Out is better than the original one but that’s not really saying anything, as the green band trailer for the film depicts a comedy wasteland. This new one’s only amusing because of all the funny cussin’, cheap and easy laughs that will undoubtedly grow stale on a second viewing. Also, whoever’s been cutting these trailers still doesn’t realize what a bad idea it is to end on that horrific “No, no!” sequence. It’s a MySpace exclusive but don’t worry, you won’t have to log back into your dusty ol’ account to see it, just look below.
I really don’t know what to think about this one, everything just looks so painful. What say you folks? Comment below!

As a whole, the entire internet is finally over Kevin Smith.
looks like shit.
Not funny.
To be fair, I love seeing a 10 year old punched in the junk.
#1: I'm glad to see that the internet has finally reached the stage I reached when I was a senior in high school.
"Second viewing" assumes a first viewing.
It's probably a very good thing that Smith didn't end up doing the Green Hornet movie. His "*Shrug* Oh geez, I'm a writer more than a director!" routine has been charming for a while, and perfectly appropriate for something like Chasing Amy, but isn't it time to step up the game, man? If you're only going to direct, you really gotta bring your A game. Evolve or die, make your choice.
Kevin Smith has reached his limit…. a long time ago. For that matter, so has everyone that makes up the cast in this "movie" too.
There's no excuse for this lack of technical knowledge regarding movie-making at this point. Kevin Smith has now made about twice as many movies as Quentin Tarantino. You know, there's relying on your scripts to get by with not knowing how to direct, and then there's flat-out laziness. And now that I bashed him, I have to concede that somehow… somehow… that made me chuckle. Still will skip it, but it made me chuckle.
You know a film is doomed when they start mentioning Seann William Scott in the trailers in an attempt to goose ticket sales. Who would have thought Kevin Smith would be using directing gigs to fund his speaking tours?
I actually think this look pretty decent. I mean, it's kind of refreshing to see a non-Apatow related comedy. The trailers for those always look funny but end up sinking into a mush of improvised boredom and fatty regret. I for one welcome this.
I think it looks hilarious, nice to see Tracy Morgan getting some screen time. What's with all the hate just because it's a Kevin Smith movie? Have his movies been that terrible? I've enjoyed them all, so I guess I bias
ive always hoped that tracy morgan's shtick would work outside of 30 rock. its looking like it doesnt.
Seann William Scott is funny, I can't get over it, try as I might.
I'm a sucker I guess. I laughed my ass off.
I have to check one in favor of this flick. Yes there are dick jokes, but there are tons of dick jokes in Apatow's flicks. Watch funny people and tell me how many times masturbation and/or sex is brought up. The chemistry looks good, Willis looks like he's actually having fun for the first time in 15 years, and the dialogue sounds sharp and flows with a beat. I'm excited about this movie because this IS something new for Smith. A movie where he HAS to direct action (hence action-comedy) and it's not his script.
That movie looks terrible. Smith was done for me with Dogma. Get over it. It doesn't look funny, you're wrong.
no -you're wrong!
no – you are!
you are!
you are!
Hated the first trailer. I found it embarrassingly laugh-free. This redband trailer made me laugh out loud six times. Damn funny. Anyone else that thinks otherwise is just a Kevin Smith hater.
Were any trailers for any Kevin Smith movies meant to be seen as anything but Red Band?
Gotta love Chud talkbacks. An 11 year old girl in makeup saying "cock" is the coolest thing ever (for pervs), but a Kevin Smith movie with dick jokes is fail.
You gotta take the audience into account, #24…think about who you're talking to here. And BTW – I didn't laugh at the first trailer either…but this one made me laugh out loud. I loved seeing the kid get punched in the minerals…
I must be stupid, because it looks pretty funny to me. If this thing was made by some random director and not Kevin Smith I think there'd be a lot less knee-jerk hate.
looks like writing was the supposed to be the backbone of this movie (since every scene is in a car, near a car, in a small room..) Tracy Morgan cannot deliver Kevin Smith run-on sentence scripts (and most other scripts) no matter how many cusses you can squeeze in. Kevin needs to GTFO of comedy fast.. Tracy might want to try the same thing for shits (one eddie murphy is enough).
the level of hate for smith is unbelievable.
