Some of you may think what follows is a spoiler. Since I’m pretty sure that the following information will be central to every aspect of Ghostbusters 3 – starting from initial casting news, going through set visits and finally being the centerpiece of the entire ad campaign – I think calling it a spoiler is beyond silly. But hey, you’ve been warned.
Bill Murray confirms to the UK’s Daily Mail that not only will he be back in Ghostbusters 3, he’s coming back just the way he always said he wanted to: as a ghost.
I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.
That’s the quote, direct from Murray’s mouth. He’s been saying for years that he would only come back as a ghost, but I’m not sure if anyone thought it would actually come to pass as such. Looks like it will be.
But again, anyone who doesn’t think that Ghost Peter Venkman won’t be one of the central aspects of all Ghostbusters 3 marketing is just fooling themselves.

Cool. I like this idea even though it kind of breaks up the team. It's just exactly how I'd expect peter to end up. And its not that far off from when ray became possessed in gb2, or like how egon became a ghost in the toon. In that episode the gbs were trying to make egon human again, I wonder if the movie will go the same route. I hope not because I love how peter's like this character who isn't even alive unless he's busting ghosts. He's like mild mannered clark kent when gb movies begin, then puts on the suit and instantaneously transforms into a super hero. So of course he'd be rewarded with eternal life in some way anyway…
Or maybe it's punishment; y'know, for putting so many of the other ghosts away? Seriously though I personally hope they handle this like the newest season of Scrubs. Start off heavy with the old cast and gradually segue into the new crew while still leaving a couple of the originals on scene to "babysit" the young'uns. If they really want to keep the series alive, as opposed to ending it with this one, they're gonna have to make it believable… in this movie about grown-ups in jumpsuits chasing colorful ghosts. lolz
Apparently this is what happened to Wesley after his death in the Angel Season 5 finale, he returns in the comic continuance as a ghost (and W an H representative).
Ghosts should go back to being extra-dimensional weird things (as in the first one) rather than dead people (as in the second one).
So 'Sharkweek' wants to see a movie version of "Extreme Ghostbusters!" If we have to be introduced to jr Ghostbusters, then maybe they should stop at 2. Because I refuse to go through a Ghostbusters' equivilent to Blues Brothers 2000.

I think Venkman as a ghost may be the lamest first start to Ghostbusters 3. I don't like this AT ALL.
Of course people are bitching. This isn't how the fans painted the movie in their mind – so of course it's the worst idea evah! It's change – and there's nothing a fanboy hates more.
Anyone that's been actively following the development of GB 3 should be able to spot this as a quote Murray said years ago talking about Aykroyd's abandoned Hellbent script. In fact most of the quotes in that interview appear to be just past Murray quotes mishmashed together. Naturally though this shit spreads like wildfire and now it's "CONFIRMED" that Murray's going to be a ghost in GB3.

hmmm… I thought I read this before though on Chud. maybe then it was more of a rumour than it is now.
Much as I hate to admit it, Dizzle has a point. I wasn't thinking of 'Extreme GB' when I wrote that post, though I have seen a couple of episodes and I must concede that my proposed direction for the next Ghostbusters iteration DOES sound an aweful lot like the pilot for 'Ex-GBs'. Now that I'm thinking about it however I've gotta say that I sorta thought the concept did have some potential, albiet poorly executed. I stand by the fact that change could be positive for continuing the series s'long as the legacy of the source material is treated with some {ok, a LOT} of respect. Didn't really finish 'Blues Bros. 2000'; I liked the first one better.

Y'know what? Forget what I said! 'Extreme Ghostbusters' rocked. I mean me, personally, I've always had some minor quibbles about the whole "extreme" rage that popped up in the 90's and some of the aspects of character designs bug me just a little {it's in the eyes, see? Those rings around Slimer's, Garett's spikey brows, that stuff around Kylie's (she's GOTH, what do I want, exactly?) things like that} but then I think about it and realize that that's just MY stuff that [I] need to work through. The show itself is simply well done and, more than that, it's a worthy successor to the original show especially considering so much of the talent from the 'Real Ghostbusters' worked on 'Extreme GB'. Seriously, we should all be LUCKY to have a third iteration of the film franchise that models itself after that show. I'm gonna go on record right now and say that I think the movie's gonna do just fine for itself. I'm going to go ahead and watch it 'cause I'm a lifelong fan of the Ghostbusters; if I end up not liking part III then I guess I'll be sad or something for a second, whatever.
