Did you know that people who are not Johnny Depp appear in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland? By freeze framing this Super Bowl spot for the film you can see these people. Honestly, at this point I’m surprised Disney hasn’t simply rebranded this film as The Mad Hatter, as Depp is nearly the only face I’ve seen connected with it. Depp as Mad Hatter has been appearing everywhere in LA, including a giant ten story billboard on the side of a building on Sunset Boulevard. At this point I’m really curious to see just how much Depp is in the film – will people be disappointed, or is The Mad Hatter going to be all over this movie?
What really interests me is the quick look at a fire breathing dragon – or is that the Jabberwocky?

This looks like absolute garbage.
Slowly but surely I am losing all respect for Burton as a Director.
I love the book, and this "reimagining" is capital R reeee-tard-ded.
It doesn't look like garbage, at all. Stop your whinnying. It looks full of imagination and creativity and fun. Burton has become a caricature of himself over the last 10 years, and maybe I'm naive for giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm interested how this is going to turn out.
I have never cared less about a movie that I would usually care about. I'm by no means a Tim Burton "hater", but this whole project just feels lame.
Looks like Depp doing a gay version of Jack Sparrow and Hollywoods finest example of nepotism. Hopefully the Cat makes up for all of the garbage I've been seeing the past year.
My problem with Burton's Alice in Wonderland is that it is so obvious. Burton's formula of 1) taking an existing property 2) adding Johnny Depp and 3) making it quirky got old for me 10 years ago. I hope Alice bombs so Burton can be pressured into developing something less perfunctory.
Oh, my god, Johnny Depp is ACTING in this movie? How DARE he?
Surprisingly, the version of the script I've read is pretty solid. I'm not sure how much has changed since it was written, but the foundation is there for an interesting and smart film. We need to remember that trailers are made by marketing people, not filmmakers, and bear little, if any, resemblance to the final film.
I enjoy the better off ted reference devin
There really wasn't that much Depp in this trailer… I mean it wasn't ridiculous or anything.
Jesus, this looks fantastic.. What the hell does everyone expect from this???? The whole 3-D Gimmick tossed on this will really make this alot of $$$$$.. Wouldn't it be something if this could surprisingly dethrone AVATAR???
Looks better then TRON 2…
Yeah, that's definitely a woky.
Yeah, that's definitely a woky.
Burton has LOST IT! Planet of the Apes, Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Sleepy Hollow…He thinks that just putting his queer little flair on these franchises is enough to distinguish them as good. BOO!
Also, TIM, try looking into some fresh actors. You've cast your WIFE in your last 6 films, for Christ SAKE!!! (and Depp in your last 4!!!)
I thought Johnny Depp WAS his wife.
I was really jazzed by this project when it was first announced; Burton and Lewis Carroll seemed like a perfect join, especially after Burton was quoted as claiming (correctly, I think) that no one had ever gotten Carroll's books right onscreen. Then it transpired that apparently he wasn't going to try and get them right either, with a RETURN TO OZ/sequel concept, mishmashing the characters, concepts and plots from the two books together, swordfights and action sequences, Johnny Depp looking like the Joker, and an approach that looks as though he's simply made a live-action followup to the animated Disney version from the '50's (which, while it has some virtues, is far from the best attempt at this material), well, my interest has been steadily evaporating. I hope I'm badly mistaken, but it just looks like another over-revved CGI mess.
Well Johnny Depp is sexy.
CHRISTOPHER FUCKING LEE IS IN THIS MOVIE. Nuff said!
