Here’s a damn cool bit of news: Steven Soderbergh is working on a movie called Contagion, which will weave multiple storylines together – a la Traffic (or
any of the Irwin Allen disaster movies, honestly) – during an outbreak
of a deadly virus. And it’s going to star Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard,
Jude Law and Kate Winslet.
Yes, please, thank you!
Just a couple of months ago we were hearing that post-Che Soderbergh
was thinking about retiring, but it seems that he’s found a new lease
on his creative life – or at least the having fun side of his creative
life. The Informant! was
a blast, and Soderbergh’s finishing up an action-thriller that’s all
about kick boxing, and now he’s got a movie that sounds like it could
shape up to be the first few chapters of The Stand done right.
Soderbergh is planning to shoot Contagion, based on a script by The Informant! writer Scott Z Burns, later this year. There’s no studio attached at the moment.

I absolutely loved CHE, but thought that THE INFORMANT! was boring and extremely unfunny and had a terrible score (context wise, on its own, it's awesome). I hope he continues not being pigeonholed into one genre and keeps bustin' (so to speak). Eagerly anticipating this one.
I can't muster the energy to care about Soderbergh anymore. This and Knockout are fun sounding movies that I'm sure he'll find a way to make boring. What happened to the director of King Of The Hill, Kafka, The Limey and Out Of Sight?
Movies are my life and I think I have amazing taste in film (and a lot of people would agree) but I fell asleep during THE INFORMANT! Maybe I'll give it another try when it drops lower than $10 on DVD but not until then.
This sounds like a great project.. Outbreak was a favorite of mine when I was a kid and really freaked me out.
No, Devin is very wrong about the Informant. That move was TERRIBLY boring and just a waste. Friends i came with walked out on it. Soderbergh used to be a name id get excited for, now, nah….
I saw Soderbergh the other day walking around Dublin. He's here shooting Knockout at the moment.
Jude "Box Office Poison" Law?
