It’s funny how innocence taints one’s perception. As I dig through the annals of CHUD.com lore I’m unearthing unfiltered, untouched, and sometimes unrealistic bits of editorial content from this site that is well into its second decade of existence. As as result, I’m sharing these older articles warts and all from a past both fun and hard to read at times whether due to the poor writing, pure love of film that has since been hammered into submission, or pure oddball lunacy that I sorta miss.
Either way, enjoy and realize that we’re fully aware how the years have affected the way we do our jobs around here.
Look forward to names like Dave Davis, Brian Koukol, Adam McAllister, and more to grace this section. Here’s the first batch.

But Phil, who needs writers when Devin drives away readers in droves?
sigh, first time looking at these TBs and I already wanna strangle mofo's.
Chud is awesome. Will always be awesome, and would probably be just that little more awesome if haters like you weren't here.
That said, Big ups the Retro Funny. I remember some of those articles from way back and Its nice to laugh and remember at the same time. Thanks
I agree with #4. If CHUD has gone to shit (which it hasn't, by the way- still my #1 site to check each day), its due to asshats and whiners bitching "we hate Devin" or "It used to be good". Fuck you- its FREE. I bet you guys have plenty to say about kids today and the price of milk, too.
God knows how many other posts containing people genuine opinions were deleted.
In all honesty, CHUD has gone from my #1 site, to now my 8th or 9th. Devin has made me lose complete interest in so many things on this website. He constantly demonstrates himself as a man with a major chip on his shoulder. Comment #3, what does it's FREE have to do with anything. Should I not complain about my favorite TV show because it's free? Should film critics not complain about films they just saw because it's a free screening? If people dont give feedback, then how is the subject going to be aware of it's lesser quality? In the case of CHUD, it is Devin. His "insiight" into the movie business is amtuer at best, and his attempts at conedy forces your face into your pams out of pure embarassment. I remember his "video walk around" at comic con, where he's making fun of people below his breath. Yeah, you know what's more pathetic then a roon full of poeple dressed up like twlight characters? A out of shape, grotesque man with a camcorder, video recording them just to make fun of them on a website so he can feel better about himself. You know it's a bad day for chud, when JOBLO has become a better movie site…
I'm loving the Retro Archives. Hilarious stuff.
To some of the other comments: I liked that comic con video, it made me laugh lots (if not bunches). Devin did a great job at pointing out all the people you never want to run into at any sort of comic convention (Seriously, people in costumes are the worst). Other than that, I like Devin's writing. I don't see why you would still bother to come if you don't like it, considering he writes that much. CHUD is still the best movie news website out there and I'll continue to read it everyday. I can understand people like #5 wanting to leave his "insight" into why he doesn't like the site, but you've said it once, they've read it, now shut up and move on to JoBlo if you don't like it. If I don't like a show because it took a turn for the worse, I don't tune in every week and then write a letter bitching about. I stop watching it.
Sure, Devin can be full of himself and egotistical at times, but the articles that usually talk about himself are the Devin's Advocates, which is HIS FUCKING COLUMN! In your column, you talk about yourself. That's what you do. Not to mention that his reviews on movies still have more insight put into them than any comment I've read giving "insight" into why he "sucks."
And to every other mindless "Devin sucks," no substance, bullshit comments: You're the bane of the internet.
Oh and I've been holding this in forever: Batman Begins wasn't that good–I think everyone realizes that upon repeat viewings. And Fantastic Four was fun (and like Devin: If I was 12 it would've been my favorite movie). And Avatar was just okay, which IS what Devin thought of it.
Long live Devin, long live CHUD!
My last two comments on posts were removed, so much for free speech. I just get annoyed when the Chud writers go off on tangents and leave their other projects in the dust. I was enjoying Devin’s “30 NON-MAINSTREAM FILMS FROM 2010 TO BE EXCITED FOR”, any chance this will be finished before 2011?
