I’m hoping that more people know about Nicolas Winding Refn because of Bronson. After the absolutely incredible Pusher trilogy (as well as the underrated adaptation of Hubert Selby Jr.’s Fear X), a film by the director should always be eagerly anticipated. Especially one involving Vikings, mud, and lots and lots of blood.

Valhalla Rising‘s official synopsis-

One-Eye (Mads Mikkelsen), a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the chieftain Barde. Aided by a boy, Are, he kills his captor and together they escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight from bounty hunters, One-Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that first disintegrates as they sight an unknown land. As the new land reveals its secrets and the Vikings meet a ghastly fate, One-Eye discovers his true self.

The trailer has already shown how dark this film looks, but here’s a new sneak peak of the film. This is incredibly rough, incredibly bloody, and just a minor indication of how brutal the film will likely be. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
