Yahoo! Movies has the newest trailer up for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. Initial thoughts? Epic is a pretty good place to start. Sort of somewhere in the middle between Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator. Since Ridley Scott can direct pretty much anyone under the table, doubtless this’ll be packing all that an epic should. And since he and Russell Crowe are usually making with the goods on their collaborations, add that to the pedigree of this film as well. But is it me or does a little bit of Maximus slip into Crowe’s dialogue every once and again? Anyway, Robin Hood opens up on May 14th.

The Untold story? So they're playing this as if it was some forgotten branch of history? And what's with the D-Day boats? And is Russ doing a Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan accent? Still, looks like they've got Kevin Durand for Little John. That's something.
Looks wonderful. Was that a laser gun sound effect with those arrows though? haha. I can barely imagine how this film once had the Sheriff as Robin Hood or that Crowe would have played both parts. It just looks like such a straight forward, Braveheart-esque Robin Hood movie. I also notice they lifted the arrow POV shot from Prince of Thieves! Nice.
PG13? No, thank you.
So is the Russell Crowe playing 2 parts thing is not happening anymore? When did that change? Also: FUCK that Crest commercial that plays right after. Like I want to buy your product after you flood my headphones pitching tooth paste at an obnoxious volume that dwarfs the former movie trailer about medieval fucking combat. And no stop button. I had to reload the fucking page just to get it to stop. Fuck you Crest!
For me the trailer ended when I saw PG-13. Universal can suck my cock.
If I have it correctly, Crowe plays a Sheriff of Nottingham who later becomes Robin Hood, who (presumably) fights another Sheriff, who is a bad guy. Why they did it this way, I have no idea.
……..to #3, and #5……as though the RATING of the movie will make it a bad film? Why does it have to be an R?
@#7: And you call yourself Kubrick Fan… Stan the Man would at least have given us full frontal nudity! But really, I think it's more the indication of yet more talented filmmakers veering away from adult treatment of their subject matter (not that gore and boobs = maturity). This seems to be a really really simplified version of the original concept they started with. I do hope they've kept the Hood-as-Ex Sheriff thing as that's literally the only treatment of Hood I've never seen attempted before. You can keep your massive armies and boat-fleets and speechifying – I want some interesting and complex character dynamics. As much as I love Mark Strong, he looks like Standard Bad Guy #26.
Jesus, can we please get an epic film that does NOT have a washed out look?
Meh, been there done that. Looks like Braveheart, KoHo, 100 other movies. Maid Marion = Spinster Marion. And big crindge when she dons warrior garb. Everyone way too old. I don`t care how many oscars they have, they look wrong.
Zzzzzzzz….
Fire arrow. Scowl. Lower bow ever so slowly while staring menacingly at target. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
needs more australians.
and what's with the harry potter font?
Is it just me or did this trailer keep stalling the entire way through. I searched all over for some other way to watch it than embedded off Yahoo, but no luck. Yahoo seriously has the shittiest embeddable players this side of NBC.
Yay! Another opportunity for me to hate on Ridley Scott. And the Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe never-ending collaboration. What, do they think they are Fellini and Mastroianni? Herzog and Kinski? Scorsese and DeNiro? They are not.
"A Good Year" proves this.
Hell, so does the rest of the body of work.
Also, I can totally see this film being championed by Tea Party anti-tax idiots.
All that bullshit aside, it looks visually boring. I've seen Braveheart, Troy, Gladiator, and all those other movies already.
And what? No fucking 3D?!
C'mon Hollywood? I thought everything was gonna be 3D now! You're losing it, Hollywood, you're losing it.
You all can suck my nut sack! Movie looks awesome.
