Reporting from SXSW, AICN is reporting that during a Q&A of Waking Sleeping Beauty director Don Hahn pretty much confirmed that the feature-length, animated version of Frankenweenie will be the next film that Tim Burton tackles. Hahn is working as executive producer on the film.
Hahn dropped the line that the puppets are ready and the script is done and now that Alice in Wonderland is finished and making more money than God, Burton’s ready to start the film. Furthermore, it will be in DOG RE-ANIMATING 3D. (I think that from now on I will only tell you when an upcoming film will be presented in 2D. Save my fingers a bit.)
The original short is a classic, a really cute and fun homage to old monster movies, but we’ll see how Tim Burton manages to muck it up this time.

WTF is a Frankenweenie… sounds like something Devin would eat as a midnight snack
Um… the short already feels a little too long… this is going to be awful.
painful for the morons that will pay to see it, i only saw the short bc its included as a bonus feature on the Nightmare Before Christmas blu-ray
Sounds like Tim's well is dry.
I love how burton does one movie this site deems "ok" (alice in wonderland) and completely forgets the praises they heaped on his previous work (sweeney todd)…c'mon chud, get your shit together
Yeah but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was shit and Corpse Bride was only okay. So in 5 years, 3/4 of his movies were meh.
I haven't liked a Tim Burton movie since Mars Attacks!
Burton's been on my list and off for 10 or more years… scissors- good, mars-good, batman-wtf, sleepy hollow-good, sweeny -good, charlie- bad, alice- ???, can't please em all, yet all are distinctly burton, chud's just callin the shows as they come #5
