The trailer for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is finally here, and it’s everything fans of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s much-loved comic could have hoped for. It’s clear just from these couple of minutes of footage that Edgar Wright completely gets the source material (as if there was any doubt), and the film is really looking like a live action comic. How we’ve missed you, visual sound effects!
Check it out at Apple right
here.
I can’t wait to see how unaware audiences react to this. It’s perfect- it suckers you into thinking you’re getting another light romantic comedy with Michael Cera before pulling out the video game battles. Excellent use of Street Fighter II clip, as well- would it be too much to hope for a Final Fantasy battle theme?

More Fantastic than Mr Fox.
Dear god( edgar wright),
Thank you for making this awesome
Scott
Sold. Sold, sold, sold.
Stupid Apple never fucking works for me; I get a question mark instead of a preview. Have all the latest quicktime, codecs, and other bullshit, and streaming quicktime works everywhere but on their actual site. Dumb fuckin' Apple bullshit.
this is going to be a very good summer to be a comic book fan that likes to go to the movies.
I love you very, very, very much.
Everything about this looks great except Michael Fucking Cera. He is a truly awful actor. God, I just want to claw my eyes out when I see him. It makes me even madder that the rest of this looks amazing.
1st play: WTF?!
2nd play: Wow…
3rd play: This is gonna be amazing!
4th play: Chris Evans is freakin' funny.
5th play: I admit it – Chris Evans will make a great Captain America.
Meh.
Let's just consider my perspective. I don't know the source material for Kick-Ass. I don't know the source material for Scott Pilgrim. Kick ass looks… well… kick-ass. Scott Pilgrim looks like a bad joke.
To a non SP reader, this looks plain stupid.
That kinda reminded me of Speed Racer… Which is GREAT. I loved SR.
This looks fun. My god, Anna Kendrick is so , so, so hot. Painfully hot.
stupid apple never works delaying my trailer watching capability, thank god for youtube… oh my goodness that trailer rocked! can't….wait, Edgar Wright rules!
I'm with you, Reality Check. Knowing nothing about the source material, it looks kind of dumb. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt because it looks like it COULD be good, but I'm definitely meh about it at best. I'm sure if i knew what it was referencing I'd appreciate it more.
I want to like this, like really, REALLY want to, as it has so many ‘cool’ things (‘KO!’) and ideas but it just vibes lame…
look awesome ,but Michael Cera doesn't portray the quirkiness of scott pilgrim he looks as he always does in all his other role lost and confused.Anyway looks great Edgar Right get the materials. Can't wait.
@Reality Check – I'm just the opposite. I've never read either comic and I couldn't be less excited about Kick-Ass, while this trailer just told me I have to see SP opening day.
If you have any doubts go watch Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Edgar Wright. It's all in his last name. I am super ridiculously pumped for this and I've never read the comics. An epic of epic epicness. ROCK.

is this what the comic is? he has to fight off ex bf's? really….? um, okay. might be entertaining.
hopefully edgar can find a way to balance all the hipster douchebaggery of the source material. based on this trailer, im not so sure.
This movie looks like something Kevin Smith would make with a bigger budget. Looks like shit and has to be the stupidest premise for a movie, ever. Edgar Wright makes it (at the very least) worth a rental though.
Holy gay. And Hot Fuzz blows.
Wow. I am not impressed at all. That's what the big deal is about? Cera has no fucking spark, does he?
Love the comics. This looks great. Haters can suck my mushroom cap.
is that Anne, one of Cera's evil ex's from Arrested development?
Am I meant to get this more if I read the comic?
I'm beginning to think that this comic is like the band Cake. Cake is possibly the worst band the world has ever seen. But they have fans! Of course these "fans" usually have issues with their parents and pretending to like shitty music somehow distances them from their parents. "My dad read Superman comics and my mom read Archie and Punisher comics, I'm going to pretend to like this Scott Pilgrim comic because my parents didn't give me enough attention."
#30 Interesting, my personal view is that people who don't like Scott Pilgrim comics are doing so in a transparent attempt to hide their own homosexual tendencies and urges to commit bestiality. What am I basing this on, nothing, but it's fun to lump people who don't share the same opinions as you in a particularly embarrassing group. Also, if Cake is the worst band you've ever heard than your points of reference for such things must be stalled in high school/college.
Looks okay. The non-action stuff seems a little flat and trying too hard to look like Michel Gondry/Wes Anderson/Jason Reitman et al, but I'll probably rent it eventually.
cera cilverman/Glad I'm not the only one who spotted that! It is- so in a weird way, Michael Cera is battling his ex and his girlfriend's ex… some mind-boggling stuff (sorta)
I was looking forward to this movie, having read all the comics, and I have to say everything looks right- except for Cera. I am willing to give it the benefit of doubt and watch it anyway, but if he is the hole in this movie, he should be stuck in TV world- specifically Lifetime channel movies.
@#5: I'm on a Vista PC (not by choice) and I never have issues with Apple/Quicktime. You shouldn't blame Apple for your dumb fuckin' bullshit PC. Woot!
