This week I’m heading up to San Francisco for WonderCon; while I’m there I’m hoping to watch Kick Ass again, to see if my original 10/10 review from BNAT stands up to the test of time. I’m excited as hell to revisit Matthew Vaughn’s amoral work of greatness, and until I get a chance to see the whole film again, I’ll settle for lots of quick clips, like in this new Kick Ass TV spot, which we’re delighted to debut here at CHUD.

I hope Lionsgate doesn't completely over-hype this film and kill its B.O. potential, Devin. IMHO, I think that is what hurt "Hot Tub Time Machine" (which I loved) this past weekend.

As it stands now, I'm going into this movie thinking this will be the best movie ever made. But it's based on a shitty comic book… With shitty lead actors… Couldn't you be a little more honest and tell us it's a future installment of "Embracing Mediocrity?"
I saw Kick Ass last night. The hype is justified. It's simply an exceptional film – the kind that keeps you buzzing long after it's finished. Heck, I'm still buzzing. The thing that got me was how chock full of memorable moments it is – the exact opposite of those teflon-coated film that you forget as soon as you've seen it. It's violent, engaging and funny as fuck, and I reckon you'd have to be a humourless, miserable cunt to not enjoy it. As far as I'm concerned, Matthew Vaughan just entered the pantheon of director's whose mere name will get me in a theatre.

Good thing I got the Kick Ass comic run on torrent so I wouldn't have to spend a dime on the shit ass comic. I'm sure the movie will bomb just as bad as Watchmen, and deservedly so.
#5 it will be lucky to make half of what Watchment did.
It's been out in Europe for a while, and to be honest, I think it's a little overhyped. The good: direction, acting (especially Hit-Girl!). Cage is also great in his tongue-in-cheek Adam West impersonating role.
The Bad: the tone! It's very inconsistent. This is something that also bugged me about Stardust. The brutality is meant to feel real, nevertheless you're supposed to laugh? I found the balancing of comedy and realistic violence quite disturbing at times.
<br> Also the choice of music for the (awesomely filmed!) Hit-Girl sequences sucks.
Overall pretty good, but not great. 7/10
