THR is reporting that Frank Darabont’s upcoming TV adaptation of The Walking Dead has just cast its lead. Rick Grimes, the main character from the comic, will be played by Andrew Lincoln. For those not familiar with Lincoln (I wasn’t) he’s an English actor that’s appeared in a lot of tv shows across the pond- This Life, afterlife and Strike Back to name a few- as well as a role in Love Actually.
Comic creator Robert Kirkman thinks he’s a great choice. “Andrew Lincoln, wow — what an
amazing find this guy is. Writing Rick Grimes month after month in the
comic series, I had no idea he was an actual living breathing human
being, and yet here he is. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this
show is coming together.”
Lincoln joins Jon Bernthal (The Pacific) who will be portraying the character of Shane, Rick’s partner on the force. In the comic Rick’s a small-town cop who ends up separated from his family during a zombie apocalypse, but quickly catches up with them to find out that his old buddy Shane’s been taking care of his wife and kid.
Shooting on the pilot starts this June in Atlanta. AMC has ordered up six shows already, so let’s hope it hits big.

Yeah, that's a good pick. Don't know his US accent, but his persona would add some interesting dimensions to Grimes who can look a bit grizzled and stony in the comics.
Haha, what the hell? Fucking Egg from This Life? This is going to be fun.
The comic book started out great, but now it's nothing but the whole "humans are worse monsters than the zombies" cliche. Keep on with the padding until issue #100, Kirkman, love seeing Rick worrying about if he can trust newcomers for the billionth time.
Hopefully they rewrite every word of dialogue in the comic because it's SHIT. And they keep doing the same story over and over and over and over.

I thought this guy was pretty good in the first season of Teachers.
Yup. Never been this excited about a TV show before. Not even Boardwalk Empire. Andrew Lincoln was the best character in Love Actually (the scene where he walks through London is fantastic), so I think he definitely could play Rick Grimes.
Andrew Lincoln is a bloody great actor, check him out in the tv series "teachers". He is very well known in england and will have no problem as the lead for this :))
I just devoured the whole series in about a weeks time. Yes, it does seem like padding sometimes, but it sure as hell didn't stop me reading it. Can't wait.
