At this rate Ryan Reynolds will surely hold the record for most superheroes played in a career (I’m counting Hannibal King from Blade Trinity as a superhero for purposes of this article), and he’s adding yet another to the mix – the imaginary superhero friend of Jeff Daniels in the sure-to-be-quirky Paper Man.
What’s kind of interesting about Paper Man – besides the cast that includes Reynolds, Daniels and Emma Stone – is that it comes from Michele & Kieran Mulroney, the couple who were once tasked with writing the Justice League movie. What did they take away from the experience? Perhaps the answer lies in the frames of Paper Man, opening April 23rd in select cities.

What's with the older guy/younger girl dynamic that is apparently everywhere ever since LOST IN TRANSLATION?
I can't be alone in thinking that this one looks…really bad. Quirky to such an extent that none of the characters actually make sense. Right? Anyone?
At first I thought this was another "guy thinks he's a superhero" movie like Special, and Defender, but I was wrong and it looks decent enough, I guess.

Wow, the Role Confusion theme is everywhere at the moment. They have some serious work to do to overcome the creepiness factor of the babysitter fake-out and sell the idea that he's the single middle-aged man on the planet who wouldn't just be wanting to fuck the arse off her. But that said, a surrogate father/daughter relationship story could be interesting territory if it doesn't get too sappy (or again, too creepy).
I think Reynolds was born to play CAPTAIN PLANET.
