When Jamie Kennedy’s Randy was killed in Scream 2 it was both a brilliant move – he was the audience identification character, and so we felt his death – and a bummer. I always thought that Randy was one of the better movie geek cliche characters, and his presence was missed in Scream 3.
But could he be back in Scream 4? Sources very close to the production tell me that the producers of Scream 4 are talking to Kennedy about returning to the franchise. The problem is that I can’t get anyone to tell me how. Will it be Randy, back from the grave? Randy’s twin? Or will the film be going meta, as some have suspected, with Kennedy playing himself? (This has to be the least likely scenario – Wes Craven already did the meta movie thing with New Nightmare).
At this point it could shake out that Kennedy’s not even in the film – Kevin Williamson is writing the script right now, in fact – but it sounds like there’s a desire to bring the whole original cast back for this go-round. And this isn’t exactly new news – Kennedy himself talked about the possibility of Randy coming back as long ago as 2008. But from what my sources tell me it sounds like the return of Kennedy to the franchise – if not the return of Randy – is all but a done deal.

This is sacrilege!!! Bringing him back ruins the entire integrity of this franchise! Is this in 3D? Because if it is I'm going to blow a load.
I like this news in some ways, if it is meta. Randy had his throat slit and his video inclusion in Scream 3 was kinda corny. But still one of my favorite geeks characters ever.
It'll end up that he faked his death and was in on it from the beginning. He's the true big bad puppet-master of the series.
He could go the prosthetic route and play Fat Mrs. Loomis in a flashback. Or we could have a prequel with a series of murders that the kids all magically forgot about.
Meh, he'll probably just play himself.
I'm thinking he'll be a new character.

When it's a dumbass movie ressurection why even speculate? If the marketing people demand they frickin' do it then just add him like the character never died. It's stupid anyway. Why wallow further in the dumb with an idiotic justification?
I kind of dig the idea that Randy faked it. He saw the signs of what was happening and moved to a safe distance. His unrequited love of Sidney meant he wanted to be in a position to get to the bottom of it all, and make sure that Sidney would ultimately be safe. The sort of weird "caretaker" role he performed in supplying the "rules", even to the ludicrous degree of taping some for viewing after his own death. That's commitment.
Maybe he will be back as a dream like Sidneys mom in Scream 3
Randy already came back after being killed – he was in Scream 3, but only "on video." That's how they did it, with his heretofore-unmentioned sister saying he left a video warning them of the rules of a trilogy. I guess they could do that again, but man that would be cheeseball.
My brother accidentally bumped into him in a crown at Comic Con last year and mistook him for a bag of smashed assholes. He looks pretty banged up these days.
He could be in a dream sequence, and could also acknowledge that he's in a dream sequence, pointing out another cliche of the horror franchise, which could also be another Wes Craven nod. There you go.
you know if they wanted to shake up things to bring back randy make him the killer, like he was part of maybe mickeys plan or w/e idk. it would deff shake things up. and his motive maybe becuz sydney never dated him. OR make his sister the killer and to bring him back use flashbacks and her motive is its syds fault that he is dead. idk its a theory
i like the idea of a dream and faked death and his sister but what the fuck happened to Joel good opening movie kill and the killer could be …Karen Coalcheck the girl randy had sex with he mentioned in scream 3 getting sydney saying its her fault randys dead his love for her drawled him away from collage with her and he was killed trying to get the girl but him comming ack would ruin the real life ascents which is questionable by the casting of matthew lilliard in scream 2
i think they should bring him back and make him the killer. it would be like a kick in the a** for sydney.

the killer should be randy, it would be fucking sweet, think about it, he survived in scream 2, he made the tape AFTER he got stabbed in scream 3 and his sister was hiding him somewhere and knew he was alive, and he wants revenge on sidney for rejecting him, the motive is all there! fuck im excited now!!!!!! why else would craven make a 4th one, come on
