British stunner Hayley Atwell has landed the role of Steve Rogers’ / Captain America’s love interest in the upcoming film, says THR.com’s Heat Vision. The character Atwell will play is named Peggy Carter, who in comics
lore not only dated Captain America but was an agent helping the French
Resistance. She later became the aunt of Sharon Carter, Captain
America’s love in modern times. Keira Knightley and Emily Blunt were reportedly in the running at various times before Atwell clinched it last week.
A quick check of Atwell shows that she’s recently appeared in both The Pillars of the Earth mini-seires and The Prisoner remake, as well The Duchess, Brideshead Revisited and Love Hate. She joins Chris Evans as Cap, Sebastian Stan as sidekick Bucky Barnes and potentially Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. Joe Johnston is directing. Captain America is slated for a July 22, 2011 release.
Author’s note: this is in no relation to the Invaders heroine who popped out the Whizzer’s radioactive spawn, Nuklo.

I wonder if they'll get her to play Sharon in modern times, or hire someone else.

I wonder if she wonders about us wondering?
Ha… #3, you get promoted to #1.
Ha, I miss-read the headline as "Miss America Owned" – was expecting hilarious youtube of a beauty queen taking a faceplant off a runway. But it's just nerd stuff. @#3: She's wondering if she can hide her bulimia for the duration of the shoot.
Captain America is into a Brit. This sounds wrong.
